Wetlands are the preferred habitat of Carex! Some can even tolerate occasionally flooded ground, which means they can sometimes be used as bank or pond plants. Discover our range of Carex for banks and moist soils to beautify damp places while reinforcing the banks.

Carex elata 'Aurea', with its bright yellow foliage, adds a vibrant touch to the edges of ponds and streams or in marshy ground. The very hardy crown can tolerate being submerged under 10 cm of water. Carex muskingumensis, or Muskingum sedge, stands out with its graceful habit and fine, bright green leaves. From the Papyrus family, it is ideal for damp shaded areas, where it creates a lush effect. Finally, Carex pendula, or pendulous sedge, is a large grass with trailing foliage, which grows well in moist and shaded soils, forming dense and elegant clumps. It is particularly useful for decorating banks while stabilising them, thanks to its numerous roots.

These sedges prefer moist soils rich in organic matter. They thrive in full sun or partial shade, depending on the variety.
