Well, not a great state of arrival in the spring and hasn't grown during the summer. One could say it's just hanging on, but it's far from flourishing. We'll see next spring.

Description

Carex laxiculmis 'Bunny Blue' is a vine-plant that was discovered in the United States and is distinguished by a prostrate clump of fairly wide, evergreen leaves with a silvery-blue colour. It thrives in humid, partially shaded areas but also withstands sunlight and temporary droughts. With minimal suckering and a compact habit, it is suitable for moist rockeries, containers, and undergrowth borders. From June to July, discreet bronze spikelets appear. Hardy down to -15 °C (5°F)

The 'Bunny Blue' vine-plant, also known as Carex laxiculmis 'Hobb', is a hybrid of C. laxiculmis. This evergreen perennial is a rhizomatous plant of the Cyperaceae family, native to damp woods in eastern North America. In the wild, this species prefers cool, damp, partially shaded to shaded areas. It tolerates freezing temperatures (down to -15°C (5°F)) and adapts to any type of soil. The rarely spreading stump forms a low and stocky clump measuring 30cm (12in) in all directions. Insignificant flowering occurs in midsummer. This evergreen maintains its beautiful 1.2cm (1in) wide foliage throughout winter. Its colours will be more intense if exposed to full sunlight, which it cannot tolerate if planted in cool, rich soil.

Carex laxiculmis 'Bunny Blue' is a very bright border or rockery plant, bringing light and attracting attention to the least exposed corners of the garden. It will be perfectly at home near a small pond or stream, as long as the soil remains moist without being constantly waterlogged. It can also be planted in groups of 5 to 10 individuals at the edge of cool undergrowth or in the design of a green wall. Where it thrives, this vine-plant will form unique and highly decorative ground cover. It can be associated with other ground cover plants that enjoy similar conditions, such as small ferns (polypodium), hostas, other small carex, saxifrages, and ophiopogon.

Planting and care

Plant Carex laxiculmis 'Bunny Blue' in full sun or partial shade, in any well-drained, rich soil that is not too dry. Dig a planting hole 20x20x20cm (8x8x8in). If your soil is heavy, mix some compost with the crumbled soil, partially fill the hole, and place your plant (after removing the pot) so that the top of the root ball of your plant is covered with 3cm (1in) of soil. Firm the soil and water generously to eliminate air pockets. In dry weather, you will need to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate the establishment of your plant. This carex thrives in partial shade but also tolerates full sun and limestone.
