Very good purchase, it is thriving while other young plants of Carex planted in the same field of plants at the same time are not developing very well, strangely.

Description

Carex pendula is a robust species with evergreen foliage throughout the winter, forming large spreading clumps with a flexible habit.

The broad leaves are dark green on the upper side and light bluish-green on the underside. The culms bear long, very thin and pendulous dark brown spikes, which are highly decorative. In late summer, these spikes bear countless seeds that, if not pruned, easily self-sow in all moist areas of the garden.

Carex pendula is an ideal grass to decorate banks along a stream; it uses its numerous roots to stabilise the ground. Its appearance is suitable for an exotic garden among Begonia grandis or gunneras, for example.
