Hardy geraniums with long flowering
Discover the best varieties!
Contents
hardy geraniums have the advantage of sometimes offering a very long flowering, from spring until the first frosts. Their flowers are dressed in rather soft and romantic shades, but can also be quite contrasting as seen in Geranium psilostemon and Geranium ‘Dragon Heart’. To benefit from a long-lasting flowering, avoid varieties derived from Geranium pratense, as well as Iberian geranium: although remarkable for their colours, they provide less durable flowerings. Instead, choose varieties such as ‘Dragon Heart’ or ‘Rozanne’, and combine them with other perennials with long flowering, such as nepetas, campanulas, gauras or agapanthuses.
Geranium ‘Dragon Heart’
‘Dragon Heart‘ is a stunning geranium that produces large flowers in a vivid magenta, with black centres and dark veins radiating from the centre across the petals. This makes the flower particularly intense and contrasting. A very impressive flowering, from spring through to autumn!
