Description
Calibrachoa Cabaret® Special Bumble Bee Hot Pink, a mini-petunia with bicolour flowers, is distinguished by its funnel-shaped bright pink flowers marked with a yellow star at the centre, reminiscent of a bumblebee's markings. This variety forms dense, slightly trailing clumps, perfect for decorating balconies and terraces. In pots, hanging baskets, or containers, it offers almost uninterrupted flowering from late spring to the first frosts, provided it is given sun, regular watering, and feed.
Calibrachoa is a South American genus of the Solanaceae family, closely related to petunias, with the species often being Calibrachoa parviflora, native to southern Brazil and other temperate regions of South America.
Cabaret® is a horticultural series created by Ball FloraPlant, formed of compact, branching, floriferous, and early-flowering calibrachoas, with good performance in pots. The sub-series Cabaret® Special groups selections with marked, star-shaped, or eye-like patterns. 'Bumble Bee Rose' produces flowers 2 to 3 cm in diameter, magenta pink with a well-defined yellow star, evoking a bumblebee's markings. It is a non-hardy perennial, grown as an annual in temperate climates. The plant adopts a dense cushion-like habit, initially rounded, then trailing, with fine, branching, slightly hairy stems. Its growth is rapid from 15°C, allowing clumps of 15 to 25 cm in height and 30 to 40 cm in width to be achieved in one season. The foliage is composed of small, entire, oblong to lanceolate, 1 to 2.5 cm, medium green leaves, sometimes slightly sticky. The flowers are trumpet-shaped with five rounded lobes, appearing from May to October. They are very numerous and renew themselves without the need to remove spent flowers.
As with other calibrachoas with a "bumble bee" pattern, the yellow star-shaped markings at the centre of the corolla help guide pollinating insects towards the nectar-rich throat, which adds to the appeal of these varieties in gardens by encouraging beneficial insects.
Calibrachoa Cabaret® Special Bumble Bee Rose can be used in hanging baskets, window boxes, or wide bowls. It can be placed in a large planter in front of Zonal Pelargonium Inspire Mix, and a Blue Lobelia 'Anabel Blue' can be tucked in on the sides. In a container, it pairs well with Verbena Vepita Pearl Blue and Helichrysum petiolare ‘Silver’ with silvery foliage. In the garden, it can be planted as a border for a sunny flower bed, at the foot of landscape roses.
Note: Please be aware, plug plants are products reserved for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, pot them on and store them under cover (conservatory, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14°C for a few weeks before being placed outdoors once the risk of frost has completely passed.

Planting and care
You can plant your Calibrachoa Cabaret Special Bumble Bee Hot Pink in the ground or in a pot. If you wish to plant it in the ground, wait until the last heavy frosts have passed. In the meantime, you can pre-grow it in a pot in a warm, bright location to accelerate its growth.
Plant in a sunny position, or in partial shade in a hot climate, sheltered from the wind. These plants require light, humus-bearing, and above all, well-draining soil. Do not water them too much at the start of the growing season, as they are sensitive to excess moisture. They tolerate drought well, but will need regular watering during periods of intense summer heat. Very floriferous and fast-growing, they are hungry feeders. We advise feeding them with a liquid fertiliser for surfinias once or twice a week during the growth period. Remove faded flowers and dry leaves as they appear to maintain a beautiful appearance and prolong flowering.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
