Petunia Surfinia Coral Morn
Petunia Surfinia Coral Morn
Absolutely stunning, exactly like in the photo. Lasts a long time, fills out nicely if pruned at the beginning and dead flowers are removed. When paired with a Black Ray petunia and a Splash Dance Magenta Mambo, it looks superb. Very vibrant colours.

Petunia Surfinia Coral Morn is one of the latest additions to this superb series of hybrids loved by gardeners. This one stands out with the exceptionally vibrant colour of its dazzling flowers, an almost fluorescent coral pink, illuminated by a white centre. The plant is compact, upright, and trailing, with excellent durability, even in heat and rain. Its unrivalled floribundity and stunning cascading effect make it naturally suitable for hanging baskets.
Â
Petunia belongs to the Solanaceae family; it is closely related to ornamental tobacco and its foliage also contains alkaloids. These annual, biennial, or tender perennial plants are most often grown as annuals and are all native to warm regions of South America. Surfinia Petunia is a relatively recent sterile hybrid, with a trailing weeping habit rather than an upright one, making it a magnificent plant for hanging baskets. It was created in Japan and has a beautiful and very long flowering period.
The 'Coral Morn' Surfinia Petunia quickly forms a bushy and trailing clump that reaches approximately 25 cm (10in) high and 35 cm (14in) in diameter. The plant flowers from June to October, provided that faded flowers are regularly removed and it is regularly fed. Its medium-sized, cup-shaped flowers are 5 cm (2in) wide, with an unfading coral pink colour, tightly packed together on dense foliage. The small white centre of the corolla is marked with green. The vigorous and healthy, dark green, hairy foliage has entire edges. This variety tolerates heat well.
Â
No other flowering annual plant has received such intense selection from breeders for such a long period. The results are impressive and petunias compete with geraniums in terms of splendour and duration of flowering, as demonstrated by this Surfinia Coral Morn variety. Plant it in large pots or hanging baskets, creating a perfect contrast with dark blue or white Surfinia Petunia. You can also plant it in flower beds, to edge borders of grey-foliage plants like cerastiums, cineraria maritimas, or artemisias. If you want it to stand out, plant several to create an original ground cover at the base of grey-foliaged plants like Nepeta faassenii or annual poppies in pastel colours.
Â
Note: Please be aware that plug plants are products intended for experienced gardeners. Upon receipt, transplant and store them in a sheltered location (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14C° for a few weeks before planting them outdoors once all risk of frost has passed.

Botanical data
You can plant your petunias in the ground or in a pot. If you wish to plant them in the ground, wait until the last heavy frosts have passed (surfinia petunias tolerate a small late frost). In the meantime, you can grow them on in a pot in a warm and bright place to accelerate their growth. Plant your petunias in a sunny location sheltered from the wind. They need light and humus-bearing, well-draining soil. Do not water them too much at the beginning of their growth as they are sensitive to excess moisture. They tolerate drought well but will need regular watering during hot summer periods. They are floriferous and vigorous, hungry plants. We recommend feeding them with a liquid fertiliser once or twice a week during the growth period. Remove faded flowers and dry leaves as they appear to keep them looking beautiful and extend the flowering period.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
