Order of over 30 products. Upon arrival, all the young plants in buckets were in a mess. No more soil or plants in the buckets. All at the bottom of the box. The labels were mixed up as a result. Difficult to sort out. 2 young plants are really in bad condition and impossible to recognize. I seriously doubt their chances of recovery. Packaging problem or carrier issue?

Description

The perennial Geranium phaeum Mourning Widow is an excellent spreading plant with purple flowers.

Originating from the forests of Eastern Europe, it is very cold-resistant and grows in the shade of large trees. This perennial geranium reaches a height of 60 cm (24in). On long, upright stems, dark purple flowers with rounded petals and golden stamens emerge. The flower measures approximately 2 cm (1in) in diameter.

This Geranium has a profuse flowering period from May to June. Its large deciduous leaves are deeply divided into 5 large lobes. They are light green in colour.

This perennial geranium easily combines with a multitude of shade-loving plants, including brunneras, epimediums, or bleeding hearts.

Planting and care

To plant your Geranium phaeum Mourning Widow, prepare your soil to a depth of 20 cm (8in) by crumblying the soil and adding a bottom amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn. Position your plant, freed from its pot, by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to remove any air pockets. In dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate establishment.
