Description
The rose Société Nationale d’Horticulture de France® is a Delbard creation that pays tribute to the Société Nationale d’Horticulture de France. It is a floribunda characterised by its clusters of large, intense red flowers, very repeat flowering, compact habit and good disease resistance. In flower beds, large borders and small gardens, this bush is decorative from spring to autumn.
This cultivar belongs to the Rosaceae family. It is a modern hybrid rose classified in the Floribunda horticultural group, with clustered flowers. It was bred in France by the Georges Delbard Nurseries and Rose Gardens, selected at Malicorne in the Allier, then christened in Paris on 22 May 2025 at the headquarters of the Société Nationale d’Horticulture de France. It is a thorny and deciduous shrub, like most garden roses.
The plant forms a small, dense, vigorous and well-branched bush, reaching 80 to 100 cm in height with a spread of about 50 cm at maturity. Its growth is regular, it fairly quickly forms a well-balanced specimen. The foliage, deciduous, is dark green, rather glossy, and retains a good appearance throughout the season thanks to good resistance to powdery mildew and downy mildew. The flowers open in clusters from May to October, until the first frosts. They measure around 9 cm in diameter, have 60 to 80 petals and display an intense, bright red colour that remains stable. Their fragrance is light but pleasant, with fresh notes of citrus, a heart of old rose and a subtly woody base. The main asset of this rose is its regularity: while many roses produce only one large flush of flowers, then sporadic reblooms, this one renews its clusters over many months.
This variety was created to pay tribute to the SNHF, an institution founded in 1827, with which the Delbard family has long been associated.
In the garden, this rose can be placed in a sunny border, a wide bed, in a small group of three specimens or in a low hedge. To accompany it, you can choose plants with a softer, more upright habit or other roses of a similar size. The Nepeta nervosa ‘Neptune’ forms a large blue mound that is very floriferous, the Stachys monieri ‘Hummelo’ offers tall, violet-pink spikes, the shrubby sage Salvia jamensis ‘Flammenn’ is a perfect match with its bright red flowers, the Agastache ‘Black Adder’ will take over in late summer. To edge a path, mix this bush with the rose Carte Blanche®, pure white, and the variety 'Berleburg', a deep pink.

Planting and care
Plant your Société Nationale d'Horticulture rose bush in a sunny position (or in light afternoon shade). Modern roses are tolerant, but they do not appreciate shallow, poor and/or very dry soil in summer. They will adapt to any garden provided the soil is well-worked, deep, not too compact, rich, and always slightly moist. To install your rose bush, work the soil by breaking it up well and place an amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn meal at the bottom of the planting hole. Water generously after planting to eliminate air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to encourage rooting.
Roses are often spotted or look unsightly at the end of summer, but this is not a problem for their development. These spots are not dangerous for the rose; they are a natural phenomenon. Follow all our advice to remedy this and read our article: Help! I have spots on my roses

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
