Buddleia Rêve de Papillon® Lavender is also known by the cultivar name ‘Bosjerry’. It was developed by the American breeder Scott Trees and is part of the Rêve de Papillon® range, a series of buddleias with abundant summer flowering, a compact habit, well-branched and well-suited to contemporary gardens. This cultivar is considered sterile: it produces less than 2% viable seeds. This helps limit its potential for dispersal and invasion, while concentrating the plant's energy on flower production.
With medium-fast growth, ‘Bosjerry’ reaches approximately 1.50m in height and spread by the age of 10 years. Its habit is bushy, compact, rounded, and very branched from the base. Its flowers, gathered in long conical inflorescences called thyrses, measure between 15 and 40 cm in length and 5 to 7 cm in width. They display a mauve to light violet-blue hue, are lightly scented, rich in nectar, and very attractive to butterflies. Flowering lasts from July to September.
The foliage is deciduous, formed of opposite, lanceolate, 7 to 15 cm long leaves, dark green on top and silvery-grey underneath. Severe pruning in late winter encourages abundant flowering which will form on the current year's wood. This very hardy bush is resistant to urban pollution and does not suffer from occasional drought in deep soil.
