A masterpiece of grace, with enormous peony flowers that bloom in lavender pink flamed with green on the outside and mature into a much deeper pink tone. It blooms on a short stem, after the early single tulips, in April. This flowering lasts a long time in the garden, as well as in a vase. Wonderful when paired with the 'Copper Image' Tulip.

Description

The 'Amazing Grace' Early Double Tulip is one of the most beautiful varieties in its category. Introduced to the horticultural market in 2015, this tulip surprises with the size of its flowers but also with their changing colours. Its enormous flowers with multiple silky petals open in lavender pink flamed with green on the outside and mature into a true pink shade, much more intense. This voluptuous flower is perched at the end of a short stem that is very weather-resistant and emerges from broad blue-green foliage. Its flowering follows that of early single tulips. It will be spectacular when paired with the 'Copper Image' Tulip, both in the garden and in a vase.

The 'Amazing Grace' Tulip is in the same vein as the delicious 'Brownie' or the intriguing 'Copper Image', with which it is often associated. All these plants belong to the Lily family. Of horticultural origin, it is currently classified in the group of early double tulips, whose main characteristic is that they all flower at the same height, making them a favourite category for enthusiasts of well-arranged flower beds. They are often offered in a mix of colours under the name 'Murillo' tulips. Perched on strong 35-40cm (14-16in) stems, just above the widely lanceolate leaves, the fully double flowers, at least 12cm (5in) wide when fully open, open almost flat. Flowering takes place in April, in the heart of the tulip season.

With their wide range of colours, sturdy and resistant flowers, suitable for both flower beds and bouquets, the reputation of early double tulips with peony-like flowers is well established. It is no coincidence that they are among the most popular varieties for cut flowers. Unmatched for bringing the colours of spring to pots or sunny gardens, do not forget to consider the height and flowering period of tulips when designing your flower beds, as these parameters can vary significantly from one cultivar to another. It is wise to plant a few more bulbs for cutting, as they make beautiful cut flowers that last a long time in a vase. 'Copper Image', with its fabulous coppery rosewood colour, pairs beautifully with 'Sweet Amy', 'Copper Image', 'Brownie', as well as with the blue flowers of Muscari or wood hyacinths.

Planting and care

Plant the bulbs in autumn, from September to December, at a depth of 15cm (6in), spacing them 10cm (4in) apart. The planting should be done in ordinary soil, slightly acidic, neutral, or slightly alkaline, loose, well-worked, and well-draining. Never add undecomposed manure or compost to the planting soil, as this could cause the bulbs to rot. Tulips will thrive in moist to dry soil. Plant them in a sunny or partially shaded location. After flowering, it is best to remove the fruits to avoid exhausting the plant.
