Spring Difficulty

Flowers for a Spring Atmosphere

In spring, you can easily create lovely bouquets made of tulips in pastel shades, such as the charming Triumph Tulip ‘Rosalie’, whose soft pink will bring a candid sweetness. You can also opt for the spring yellow of daffodils or Triumph tulips ‘Strong Gold’, to which you can add a few sprigs of Gypsophila. For a beautiful effect, surround the vase with a few small coloured eggs, some natural twine, and a veil of linen.

The floral basket will also be a lovely alternative to the vase, evoking the gathering of Easter eggs. You can place a block of foam inside, into which you will plant a few flowers amidst small Easter decorations.

Flowers (here daffodils and tulips) bring a spring touch to an Easter table

Another possibility, more sustainable and eco-friendly (even economical), is to create a centrepiece with pots of flowering bulbs, such as Hyacinths, Muscari, beautiful Pansies and Violas and daffodils. For example, the perfect combination of blue and yellow from Viola ‘Cool Wave Morpho’ will add a spring touch to your table, both colourful and fresh. If you prefer the purity of white, opt for daisies, Muscari Aucheri ‘White Magic’ or the delicate wood anemones. For more originality, place your pot in a pretty cache-pot, for example in the shape of a watering can or a small basket in a rustic style. Once the Easter festivities are over, you can replant your plants directly in the garden.

You can also place a few flowers on the table, such as those from cherry trees, Pansies, or daisies. And for a perfect scene, slip a flower or flowering stems (Mimosa, Willow, Eucalyptus, forsythia, etc.) with each guest’s napkin.

A remarkable centrepiece

The centrepiece is one of the key elements of a successful Easter decoration. It draws the eye and sets the mood for the entire table, or even the whole room.

For those nostalgic for the Christmas tree, have you heard of the Easter tree? Very trendy, graphic, and original, the Easter tree adds a decorative touch to your table, all while being light and airy. It’s very easy to create; all you need is a pair of pruning shears to cut and place one or more lovely bush branches in a vase. You can use branches of willows with their beautiful fluffy aments, cream or pink, like those of the Salix chaenomeloides ‘Mount Aso’. Eucalyptus branches will add roundness and a gentle fragrance, while those from the blackthorn or forsythia will be stunning with their spring flowering. Then, hang a few decorated eggs, and you’re all set. Place your display in the centre of the table for a beautiful effect.

Willow branches are perfect for creating a beautiful Easter decoration

If you prefer simplicity over verticality, you can create a chic and understated decor by laying a few sprigs along a long table runner. Choose some beautiful branches of Eucalyptus, willow, forsythia, or Mimosa. Add a few Easter-themed decorations, such as eggs, feathers, or some flowers. Don’t overload your centrepiece to avoid a feeling of heaviness or clutter.

The egg, the star of Easter

Whether chocolate or decorative, the egg is the undisputed star of Easter. They adorn plates, tables, or little baskets. Even more unexpectedly, they can also be turned into tiny vases to showcase our flowers in an original way. To do this, simply empty the egg, clean it, and then place it in a snug little holder, like below in a pot filled with hay. Next, head out to gather (or send your young children who will be delighted with this task) from the garden: daisy, tulip, daffodils, crocus, hyacinths, primroses, bergenias, epimediums, and other dandelions will thus be enhanced.

Tip: keep the egg in its holder by applying a bit of glue underneath using a glue gun. Take the opportunity to seal the small hole under the egg, so you can add water to the shell.

Little nests and beautiful crowns

Many bushes are pruned at the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Branches of wisteria, dried twigs of clematis or dead wood from bougainvillea are perfect materials for making, yourself, nests or decorative crowns. You can also use the flexible branches of willow bearing lovely fluffy aments or those flowering from forsythias. Give your branches the desired shape and secure them with a natural string. Then decorate them according to your wishes: flowers, small decorative eggs, ribbon, and a few feathers.

Edible flowers to impress your guests

Edible flowers have become very trendy in recent years. They provide a feast for both the palate and the eyes, adding colour and originality to our plates. But be careful to choose your flowers wisely! They must be edible and untreated. At the beginning of spring, only a few will already be present in the garden: the Pansies (Viola), valued for their fragrance and sweet flavour, dandelion flowers, and daisies. They can be enjoyed raw, in salads, flavour creams, and decorate cakes.

Also, consider adding some parsley leaves to your dishes, chives in your salad, and fresh mint leaves on your drinks and desserts.
