Rosa Princesse Sibilla de Luxembourg - shrub or climbing rose

Rosa Princesse Sibilla de Luxembourg rose is little known despite its magnificent track record. It is interesting for its woody and flexible habit, which allows it to be used in the garden as a bush or as a small climber, if trained. Its mauve flowers are semi-double and wavy, revealing a clear throat and a beautiful heart of yellow stamens. Their subtle and refined musky scent perfumes the air. They gather in clusters that bloom in successive waves for several months until the beginning of autumn. It is a versatile, original rose, full of charm, and disease-resistant. The Princesse Sibilla de Luxembourg rose was obtained and introduced to the market in the 2000s by the Orard rose gardens, a family business located in Feyzin, France. This variety has been awarded on 3 continents, an impressive track record:

It is a perpetual variety that produces medium-sized, rain-resistant flowers in generous clusters. It has a massive flowering in June which renews in waves throughout the summer, with a generous autumn rebloom. The bush has a flexible habit and arching stems and will quickly reach 1 metre (3 feet) high and 90 cm (35in) wide if left unpruned. Trained against a support and shaped, it can climb up to 1.50 or 2 metres (5 or 7 feet) high, or even more depending on growing conditions. Its semi-double roses are composed of beautifully wavy-edged petals. Their mauve to purplish colour turns to blue and old rose as they fade, the base is almost white, with a hint of yellow. They open up to a heart of yellow stamens and exude a subtle musky scent. The light green foliage is divided into toothed leaflets, disease-resistant in good growing conditions. The plant is leafless in winter.

Princesse Sibilla de Luxembourg rose, unrestricted and unconstrained, is a very attractive bush, perfect for large beds and flowering hedges that it will enliven for months. It pairs perfectly with lilacs, mock oranges, or buddleias for example. Trained as a climber, it dresses trellises, pergolas, or shrubs beautifully. To accompany it, choose a blue or white flowering clematis, or a pale yellow, orange, pink, white, or purple climbing rose.
