Very nice refined colour but the shape of the young plant, already quite large, was a bit disappointing; I will take advantage of the pruning before the resumption of growth next spring to tidy it up; not a lot of flowers for this first season, I will give it some fertilizer next year.

Weigela All Summer Peach is part of a series of exceptionally perpetual hybrid weigelas. The small size of this new variety does not prevent it from flowering almost continuously from April to September, in a range of delightful and bright pink, apricot, and peach tones. With its very compact and bushy growth, this unobtrusive bush fits anywhere, in a small garden or a large pot on the terrace. Easy to grow, it thrives in ordinary but moist soil in a sunny, rustic, or romantic-inspired flowerbed or small flowering hedge.
Â
Originally from northern China, Japan, and Korea, the Weigela florida is a deciduous shrub belonging to the caprifoliaceae family. This lime-loving shrub (preferring limestone soils) has a fibrous and spreading root system, which is perfect for transplantation. It has given rise, through hybridization with other Weigela species, to numerous horticultural varieties, including the 'All Summer' series, selected in the Netherlands.
'All Summer Peach®' ('Slingpink') is exceptional due to its floribundity. The shrub has a fairly slow growth and dense and rounded vegetation. It forms a branching bush that will not exceed 1 metre (3 feet) in all directions by the age of 10. Its funnel-shaped flowers are light apricot pink with a pale peach base, open with very light stamens in harmony with the corolla. They are borne in corymbs at the ends of the branches and bloom in successive waves from spring to the end of summer. This flowering is nectar-rich but does not produce fruit and does not exhaust the tirelessly blooming plant. The flowers fall off naturally on this low-maintenance variety. The deciduous foliage is composed of sessile leaves, downy on the reverse, ovate to elliptical. They are green from spring to summer, turning yellow-orange in autumn before falling.
Hardy down to -25°C (1°F), the Weigelia 'All Summer Peach' is one of those shrubs which are easy-to-grow in most regions, except for the hottest and driest ones. It thrives in sunny or semi-shaded positions, in any moist but well-drained soil. Its very compact and rounded habit makes it an ideal shrub for terrace decoration, but also suitable for gardens of all sizes. Its long flowering season is far from dull, enlivens any setting and allows for the creation of large colourful borders along a pathway or a lawn when combined with purple barberries, for example. In a flowerbed, companions such as Galega, blood or variegated dogwoods, ornamental brambles, Physocarpus, symphorines, or even a dwarf Buddleia alternifolia Unique with blue-purple flowers can be chosen. In the background, the very dark foliage of holly or yew will create a dark setting, ensuring the decor in winter.

Hardy down to -25°C, the Weigela 'All Summer Peach' thrives in sunny or partially shaded positions. To maintain a compact habit and promote abundant flowering, shorten the branches that have borne the spring flowers by 2/3, just after flowering.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
