Begonia 'Organdy Mix' is a mix of repeat-flowering Begonia that offers a generous diversity of foliage and colours. It includes varieties such as 'Super Olympia' and 'Cocktail'. The satin flowers come in white, pink, salmon, and red, with foliage in green, bronze, chocolate, or purple. This colourful display blooms continuously throughout the summer from June to September. This hybrid Begonia prefers shade or partial shade, whether planted in the ground or in pots, on the terrace or balcony. It is normally grown in as an annual plant, as it is frost-sensitive.
Begonia 'Organdy Mix' is a non-hardy herbaceous perennial plant belonging to the begonia family. It is derived from Begonia semperflorens, a hybrid between two species native to Brazil: Begonia cucullata and Begonia schmidtiana. Plants from this selection are very branched and will quickly reach 20 cm in all directions. They have a very regular habit forming a compact ball, with stout and fleshy stems, covered with tough, round, glossy leaves, about 5 cm long. The leaves can be fresh green, bronze, or more purplish to chocolate tones depending on the plant. Appearing from May-June on the earliest varieties and lasting until the first frosts, the flowers are single, semi-double, or double. Their soft or vibrant colours range from white to pink and red, passing through orange. They are clustered in the axils of the leaves and at the terminal part of the stems. Begonias are monoecious, bearing both exclusively male (single) and female (double) flowers.
Organdy Mix Begonias form a good, remarkably colourful ground cover that brightens up shady or partially shady areas in flowerbeds. As they are not hardy, they are often used in containers, flower boxes, or large flowering pots, easy to bring indoors into heated greenhouses or verandas at the first cold spells. They blend well with plants with light foliage and flowers, such as lobelias, annual pennisetums, bacopas, bidens, or petunias. Remove faded flowers to encourage new blooms.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
