More information

This forget-me-not offers pure white flowers gathered in dense and airy clusters that enhance all the other plants in the garden or on the terrace. This biennial variety blooms early, from the beginning to the end of spring, on well-branched plants that stretch out in a dazzling carpet at the base of bulbs, bushes and perennials. This plant is so happy in our climates that it often self-seeds, not always faithfully, at random in flowerbeds. It thrives in rather moist, fertile and well-drained soil, in the sun or partial shade of the undergrowth.

Description

Myosotis sylvatica Snowsylva (Whitesylva) offers pure white flowers, gathered in dense and airy clusters that enhance all other plants in the garden or on the terrace. This biennial variety blooms early, from the beginning to the end of spring, on well-branched plants that lay down a dazzling carpet at the foot of bulbs, shrubs, and perennials. This plant is so happy in our climate that it often self-seeds, not always faithfully, in the middle of flowerbeds. It thrives in rather moist, fertile, and well-drained soil, in sun or in the partial shade of the undergrowth. Autumn planting ensures excellent spring flowering.

The wood forget-me-not is a plant from the borage family, native to meadows, clear undergrowth, and the edge of forests in almost all of Europe, with the exception of the far north and southwest. The 'Snowsylva' variety (also called 'Whitesylva') is a short-lived perennial plant, usually grown as a biennial. Its habit is bushy and airy, and the plant is distinguished by very early and abundant flowering that lasts until June. It forms small rosettes of downy pale green foliage from which hairy stems emerge from April to June, branched in their upper part and carrying very dense, round, and slightly flattened inflorescences that grow as the plant blooms. They are composed of flowers measuring 3 to 10 mm (0.1 - 0.4 in) in diameter, pure white around a small yellow heart. Once well established, the wood forget-me-not and its cultivars self-seed abundantly in the garden.

The forget-me-not is traditionally used to enhance bulbs and all spring flowers (daffodils, narcissus, primroses, dwarf irises or tulips) as it lightens their blooms. You can plant it in large groups to create a colorful carpet in perennial beds, borders, and planters. In warmer regions it will thrive in the undergrowth alongside bleeding hearts or horned violets. The delicate flowers of the wood forget-me-not are very decorative in spring bouquets, to enhance large flowers (especially peonies or roses). Unlikely to be forgotten, its motto could well be: 'Plant it once and you will always have it'.

Please note that our young plants in mini-plugs are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant them as soon as possible into pots, or directly into flowerbeds.
