Applying grease around the trunk of trees, or at the base of the main branches, creates a physical barrier that traps or prevents the ascent of creeping insects such as earwigs, caterpillars, and ants into the aerial parts of fruit trees. This gel-like, green formula is well-suited to fissured bark, offering little hold for traditional tree glues. It can be applied with a brush or spatula; 500 ml of product protects 7 to 10 trees with a trunk diameter of approximately 15 cm.

Protecta (Rampastop®) Tree Grease Gel, with its gelatinous consistency, is particularly suited to heavily fissured bark, which offers little anchorage for traditional formulas. Apply with a brush or spatula around the tree trunk, or at the base of the main scaffold branches, to create a physical barrier that traps or prevents the ascent of creeping insects such as earwigs, caterpillars, and ants into the aerial parts of fruit trees. 500 ml of product will protect 7 to 10 trees with a trunk diameter of approximately 15cm, for 4 to 6 weeks.

To protect fruit trees from damage caused by certain creeping pests, applying tree grease is an effective, simple, and proven preventive solution. It is an ecological control product, offering an alternative to insecticidal treatment methods: by sticking to the grease as they pass, insects are simply unable to access the fruit.

This tree grease is composed of polybutene and polyisobutene, materials obtained from the petrochemical industry, which give it remarkable plasticity and long-lasting hold. It is presented as a green-coloured gel. Apply using a medium-sized brush with semi-rigid bristles, to form a ring approximately 10 cm wide on the trunk or on the base of the main branches if they start close to the ground. Do not work the soil during the application period, to avoid the grease becoming saturated with dust. Ensure there are no tall plants at the base of the trunks, which create passageways (or 'bridges') allowing creeping insects to access the aerial parts.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
On certain sensitive trees (citrus trees, Fig trees, etc.) and on young trees (<2 years), direct application to the trunk may present risks of bark necrosis. To avoid this, cover the desired application area with cling film before applying the grease. Do not reapply the following year on the same area of the trunk. Once the grease is applied, do not carry out summer pruning on the tree.

Bird protection: avoid applying the grease on horizontal branches to avoid trapping insectivorous birds.

Uses and advantages

Main uses Protecta Tree Grease Gel (Rampastop®) is particularly suited to heavily fissured bark, which offers few anchoring points for traditional, more paste-like formulas. It creates a physical barrier that traps or prevents the ascent of crawling insects such as earwigs, caterpillars and ants into the aerial parts of fruit trees. 500 ml of product will protect 7 to 10 trees with a trunk diameter of approximately 15cm, for 4 to 6 weeks. Apply using a medium-sized brush with semi-rigid bristles, to form a ring approximately 10 cm wide on the trunk or on the base of the main branches if these start close to the ground. Use the grease undiluted, or to make it more fluid, add up to 4% linseed oil. Do not work the soil during the application period, to avoid the grease becoming saturated with dust. Ensure there are no tall plants at the base of the trunks, which create passageways ("bridges") allowing crawling insects to access the aerial parts. PRECAUTIONS FOR USE On certain sensitive trees (citrus trees, Fig trees, etc.) and on young trees (<2 years), direct application to the trunk may present risks of bark necrosis. To avoid this, cover the desired application area with cling film before applying the grease. Do not reapply the following year on the same area of the trunk. Once the grease is applied, do not carry out summer pruning on the tree. Keep out of reach of children. If consulting a doctor, keep the container or label to hand. Dispose of the contents/container in accordance with current regulations. Bird protection: avoid applying the grease to horizontal branches to avoid trapping insectivorous birds. To remove grease stains, use a thinner such as white spirit.
