I still hold the same opinion as Michel: the young plant is very mediocre given the price.

Description
The Clematis 'My Darling' will surprise you with its large double flowers, 18 to 23 cm in diameter, of a magnificent red-pink, edged with white on the central petals. It blooms in June-July on the previous year's wood, and again in late summer on new shoots. This second flowering produces semi-double or single flowers. With a compact habit, this liana reaching 1.5 to 2 m in height is ideal in the garden as well as in a pot on the terrace or balcony. It appreciates sun and a fertile, moist, and well-drained soil. Provide a good layer of mulch.
From the Renonculaceae family, the Clematis 'My Darling' is a recent Polish creation, dating back to 2017. Its breeder is Szezepan Marczynski. It caught attention with its large double flowers in a surprising colour. In June-July, the plant is covered with double flowers that can measure up to 23 cm in diameter. The petals are of a magenta red, but the petals in the centre of the flower are edged with white. Their midline is darker. The new shoots produce, in late summer, a second flowering of the same colour, but the flowers are semi-double or single. The deciduous leaves are bright green and trifoliate. Clematis 'My Darling' clings to its support through petioles transformed into tendrils.
This compact clematis is perfect in a pot, on a terrace or balcony. In the garden, it can easily dress up a small arch, a fence, or even a wire mesh. Pair it with a rose that will serve as its support, such as the David Austin Winchester Cathedral with white flowers or Desdemona with pale pink flowers. Their blooming will complement each other and bring an "English" touch to your garden. At the base of your clematis, plant some perennials that will shade its roots and base of its stems. Opt for white blooms with the Delphinium Moerheimii or the Phlox paniculata Flame White Imp.

Planting and care
Plant the Clematis 'My Darling' ideally in full sun or possibly in partial shade. It will appreciate a fertile soil that remains moist and well-drained. Avoid overly wet soils where water stagnates. When planting, it is important to remember the following refrain: "head in the sun, feet in the shade". Indeed, protect the base of your Clematis (roots and base of the stem) from the sun, for example with a flat tile or by planting some perennials at its base to provide the necessary shade.
In the planting hole, remember to tilt the root ball towards the support (arch, rose bush, fence...) and bury the base of the stems. Guide the first stems towards their support. Mulch the base to maintain soil moisture and protect the roots from the cold in the heart of winter.
This variety flowers on the previous year's growth, so lightly prune it in March (a simple cleaning is sufficient: remove dead or broken branches). After the first flowering, cut back all the branches by half so that the Clematis forms new shoots that will give rise to a second flowering in late summer. Only prune severely to rejuvenate your Clematis every 4 or 5 years.
Voles and grey worms can attack Clematis and devour their stems. Be vigilant against aphids and greenhouse whiteflies, which can also attack your 'My Darling' Clematis.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
The flowering period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, etc.)
It will vary according to where you live:- In zones 9 to 10 (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), flowering will occur about 2 to 4 weeks earlier.
- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
The planting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands).
It will vary according to where you live:
- In Mediterranean zones (Marseille, Madrid, Milan, etc.), autumn and winter are the best planting periods.
- In continental zones (Strasbourg, Munich, Vienna, etc.), delay planting by 2 to 3 weeks in spring and bring it forward by 2 to 4 weeks in autumn.
- In mountainous regions (the Alps, Pyrenees, Carpathians, etc.), it is best to plant in late spring (May-June) or late summer (August-September).
The harvesting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions in USDA zone 8 (France, England, Ireland, the Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...) fruit and vegetable harvests are likely to be delayed by 3-4 weeks.
In warmer areas (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), harvesting will probably take place earlier, depending on weather conditions.
The sowing periods indicated on our website apply to countries and regions within USDA Zone 8 (France, UK, Ireland, Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...), delay any outdoor sowing by 3-4 weeks, or sow under glass.
In warmer climes (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), bring outdoor sowing forward by a few weeks.
