Description

For many, clematis evoke those large tangled climbers on which large multicoloured star-shaped flowers bloom. This clematis is a herbaceous species, meaning it does not climb. They are shrubby (the base of the plant is woody), or creeping. Their flowers are less showy but very elegant and delicately fragrant. They are slow to establish in their first year but grow exponentially in the following years.

This lovely species forms a small bush with toothed leaves with three leaflets. The delicate flowers form a small pale blue tube, curved at the end and are followed by very decorative feathery seeds. On a cool slope or at the edge of a woodland, this clematis will provide a spectacle for many weeks!
