Arrived in very poor condition, no padding in the packaging box, we found the plant on one side and the soil on the other. We still planted what was left of the roots, but to this day it hasn't taken.

Description

The Passionflower 'Victoria' is a climbing bush, also known as the Passion Flower. It blooms in the summer, producing large and abundant flowers measuring 10 cm (4in) in diameter. The tepals are mauve pink, with a purple centre and white towards the ends. The stamen core is green. Each flower is short-lived but quickly replaced.

The flowers are rarely followed by large orange fruits in the autumn, similar to those of the Passiflora caerulea. The evergreen foliage is dark green and shiny. The Passion Flower is very vigorous. At maturity, the 'Victoria' Passiflora reaches a height of 5 m (16ft).

It thrives against a wall or fence, attaching itself with its tendrils. The passiflora x violacea is a cross between the passiflora racemosa and the passiflora caerulea. The Passion Flower is reminiscent of elements of the Passion of Christ (the nails, the hammer, and the crown of thorns), hence its name.

Planting and care

Passiflora thrives in sunny or semi-shaded locations, sheltered from cold and drying winds. Plant it in ordinary, well-drained soil. Passifloras are quite delicate to grow as they are sensitive to frost. Take care to mulch it well before the first frosts. Place it on a support to support the weight of the vegetation. Indeed, direct its branches well onto the support as the vegetation is exuberant. Prune the passion flower in early spring. Remove dead or misplaced branches and ventilate the plant by pruning any excess branches.
