The Deschampsia caespitosa forms a dense clump that stays green all year round. The culms that grow upright produce long and flexible panicles that start out pale green and become brighter over time, eventually turning straw yellow. When the autumn sun shines on this grass, it creates a beautiful scene that is hard to ignore. This grass can grow in any moist soil, even clay.
