Holcus mollis Albovariegatus - Variegated creeping soft grass

Holcus mollis Albovariegatus is a perennial with absolutely unique foliage which gives the impression, when in partial shade, of being in full sun because of its wonderful brightness.

It is a perennial grass with a creeping habit, forming clumps and reaching 50 cm in height. Its semi-evergreen, very bright foliage is in the form of long and narrow variegated leaves of white and green. The inflorescences that appear in June-July are typical of grasses, with plume-like pale green flowers.

The variegated creeping soft grass (its common name) thrives in partial shade because the foliage is quite fragile and is sensitive to direct sunlight. It prefers moist, ordinary, even clayey soils; it is not a difficult plant but it can be invasive in rich and moist soils. This grass can be planted in pots, containers or beds.
