Description

This Spring Sky & Sea Collection invites the color of a pure sky, without clouds, of the sea where the sky reflects, cobalt or indigo, a whole range of blues that extend from January to May. It brings together bulbs and biennial plants to be installed in a pot or planter that will brighten balconies or terraces, or near the entrance of the house to be enjoyed with every passing. The double primrose Belarina Cobalt and the Pansy Inspire Silver Blue open the dance from January, soon joined by the Blue Pearl hyacinth and the Muscari Valérie Finnis, which beautifully closes the march in May. Offering a burst of optimism at the end of winter, they grow in partial shade and flower for a very long time. This very hardy collection will be ideal to brighten up partial shade. Care should be taken to protect the plants from the scorching rays of the sun in summer.

This collection consists of:

- 3 x Double Primrose 'Belarina Amethyst Ice': a garden primrose that offers flowers of an incredible blue, appearing almost luminescent in the twilight. They are very double, adorned with a discreet violet splash on the edge of the central petals that emerge from a very dark, navy blue heart. Blooms from January to April.

- 30 x Muscari armeniacum 'Valerie Finnis': an exceptional variety with a pale blue porcelain color. Its small clusters of fragrant flowers bloom from April to May, forming beautiful waves of celestial blue on a carpet of fresh green leaves. Muscari armeniacum is a small, undemanding bulbous plant that will easily naturalize in well-drained soil without reverting to the wild type.

- 16 x Pansy 'Inspire Silver Blue' Plug Plant - Viola witrockiana: flowers of a beautiful size, displaying a superb gradient of blue, ranging from pale silver blue on the edge to almost ultramarine blue near the center. The corollas open widely towards the sky, offering their lovely blue faces. Flowering begins in January and continues until May.

- 5 x Hyacinth 'Blue Pearl' - Hyacinthus x orientalis: this bulbous plant produces clusters of flowers in March-April, laden with small waxy stars in a dark blue-violet color, each petal being bordered by a lighter shade. This excellent variety is also highly fragrant.

Planting and care

Create your flower pot from September to December, in rich and light soil. First, plant the perennials, making sure to place the largest plants at the back, then insert the bulbs between the perennials at a depth of 5 cm (2in) and a spacing of about 5 cm (2in). Cover with soil. For perfect finishing, if there are any areas where the soil is visible, cover it with a bit of moss collected from the garden. Water well during planting. Afterwards, the composition should be sufficient with the autumn rains. If they are not enough, water, but make sure to let the soil dry a bit between waterings: these plants do not like stagnant water, which can cause them to rot. Especially the muscari and hyacinth bulbs, which are in a dormant period in summer.
