Flowering throughout the summer, reproducing and spreading rapidly. It slightly whitens towards the end of its flowering. A marvel!

Description

Campanula 'Royal Wave' is a ground cover perennial that forms beautiful carpets with numerous large bell-shaped, fragrant, purple flowers with white hearts, from May to June.

This widespread deciduous plant forms a carpet of alternate, heart-shaped, simple, entire, dentate, medium green leaves. The regular bell-shaped, fragrant flowers are purple with white hearts, 5cm (2in) in diameter and open at the end of thin, upright stems, 15cm (6in) tall.

Campanula 'Royal Wave' grows in light, fertile, loose, humus-bearing and well-drained soil, even limestone. The ideal exposure is in non-scorching sun or light partial shade, sheltered from strong winds. Beware of slugs and snails in April.

The 'Royal Wave' Campanula is an excellent ground cover, ideal for rockeries, borders, pots or paving alongside other creeping perennials such as phlox or aubrietas.

Tips: in hot weather, rust can stain the foliage with orange spots and cause it to dry out.
