Delphinium Magic Fountains Deep Rose-White Bee - Larkspur

Larkspur or Delphinium 'Magic Fountains Deep Rose/White Bee' is a perennial variety of intermediate size that offers magnificent spikes of tightly packed, single to double, pink flowers illuminated by a beautiful white eye in summer. Very ornamental in perennial beds, this sturdy variety is less susceptible to bad weather. Also beautiful in containers, near the house or in bouquets, delphiniums thrive in sunny, rich, deep, and well-drained soils.

Delphinium 'Magic fountains Deep Rose/White Bee' is one of many hybrids obtained by cross-breeding with D. elatum, which gave birth, among others, to the famous "Pacific Giant" series. The plants in the 'Magic Fountains' series do not exceed 1m (3ft) high, bloom in summer and are resistant to bad weather, which generally exempts them from staking. Delphinium Magic Fountain is a short-lived herbaceous perennial forming a clump of deeply divided palmate, tender green, deciduous leaves, from which flower stalks of an average height of 80-90cm (32-35in) emerge in summer, a rather modest size for a hybrid delphinium. This reduced height allows it to withstand wind and not easily flop under the rain. Flowering occurs from June to September, loved by pollinating insects. The flowers are single or semi-double, cup-shaped, gathered on tall upright spikes. In this Deep Rose/White Bee variety, the petals are lilac pink. The flower's centre is occupied by a pure white collar and 'bees'. The plant develops from a woody rhizome that sinks vertically into the soil.

The characteristic silhouette of Delphiniums adds volume, height, and charm to romantic beds. They are good companions for moss or gallica roses, forming very charming compositions, in the purest English style. You can also create a beautiful association with pink daylilies, pink, mauve, or blue paniculate phlox, and paniculate baby's breath. The flowers hold up well and are appreciated in bouquets.

Note: From March to September, the stems of our delphiniums are pruned short to allow for better branching and to achieve optimal rooting. This also prevents the stems from breaking during transportation.
