Fast delivery and very fresh young plants despite the Covid19 issues. A big thank you to the PDF team. I love the echinaceas that thrive in my garden.

Description

Echinacea purpurea 'Hot Summer' is a perennial that blooms from July to September, offering a gradient of colourful flowers. These flowers will open yellow, turn orange, and finally end up as a scarlet red. The imposing centre is brownish-red. Due to its staggered flowering, Echinacea provides a rich palette of colours for nearly two months. The corollas of the flower are fragrant.

This upright clump is composed of deciduous foliage. It is a tall, sturdy, and vigorous echinacea with excellent hardiness. Like all purple coneflowers, it is native to the United States. At maturity, it can reach a height of 80cm (32in).

It is a melliferous plant. It can be found in perennial borders, mixed borders, and even in large planters and containers. This ornamental plant has flowers that can be cut to create beautiful dried or fresh bouquets.

Planting and care

Echinacea 'Hot Summer' enjoys a sunny or slightly shaded exposure. Plant it in deep, well-drained soil. However, it accepts any type of soil. It is a hardy plant that tolerates drought, heat, and humidity. It even adapts when it is close to the coast or on a slope. Space the plants 40cm (16in) apart when planting. Echinacea is greedy, so regularly add a good fertilizer for it to thrive. Cut back the stems when the flowers have faded to promote the next flowering. Echinacea does not like to be disturbed and takes quite a while to establish itself.
