Description

The Geranium renardii Tcschelda is a remarkable variety for dry soil with blue lilac flowers veined with purple.

This perennial geranium forms evergreen, grey-blue leaves that are very fluffy, like those of the officinal sage, which gives it its nickname of crepe-leaved geranium.

Like all perennial geraniums, it is tolerant and accepts both sunny and semi-shaded situations. It thrives in poor and dry soils, which enhance the silvery character of its foliage.

You should plant it in a sunny and well-drained soil, prominently displayed at the edge of a flower bed to enjoy its decorative leaves. It pairs well with sages, yarrows, arbutus roses, and small grasses.

Planting and care

Plant your Tcschelda Fox Geranium in preferably sunny, well-draining and poor soil. Prepare your soil in a 20 cm (8in) cube by crumbling the soil well and placing a layer of gravel at the bottom of the planting hole to drain heavy soils. Position your plant, freed from its pot, by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, fill in and water generously to remove air pockets. In dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root establishment.
