Will the young plant grow? I'm not worried because it arrived in good condition.

Description

The Geranium Terre Franche is a perennial ground cover, remarkable for its drought resistance, with blue mauve flowers striped with purple that bloom throughout the summer.

This perennial geranium forms a spreading clump that reaches a height of 45cm (18in), with semi-evergreen foliage that is medium green and covered with a fine grey down. Like all perennial geraniums, it is tolerant and accepts both sunny and semi-shaded conditions. It thrives in poor and dry soils that accentuate the silvery character of its foliage.

You should plant it in a poor and well-drained soil, preferably in a prominent position at the edge of a border to enjoy its decorative foliage. It pairs well with sages, yarrows, shrub roses, and small grasses.

A variety very similar to 'Philippe Vapelle', from which it mainly differs in its larger stature, its foliage that holds up well in late season, and its flowers that are a slightly lighter blue.

Planting and care

Install your "Géranium Terre Franche" in preferably sunny position, in a well-draining and poor soil. Prepare your soil to a depth of 20 cm (8in) by crumbling the soil well and placing a layer of gravel at the bottom of the planting hole to drain heavy soils. Position your plant, freed from its pot, by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, fill in and water generously to remove any air pockets. In dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root establishment.
