Description

Lovely collection of 3 Daylilies in complementary colours, these perennial plants are semi-evergreen, with narrow foliage in shades of bright green to dark green. They are very hardy and can reach up to 75cm (30in).

The collection consists of:

- One 'Gentle Shepherd' Daylily: with large ivory white flowers, 14cm (6in) in diameter.

- One 'Night Embers' Daylily: with double dark red flowers edged with white, 12cm (5in) in diameter, slightly fragrant.

- One 'Pandora's Box' Daylily: with single, fragrant flowers in a cream colour with a purple heart.

The flowers only last for 24 hours but continue to bloom for several weeks from June to August. Daylilies should be planted in full sun in moist soil, as a border plant, in containers, or as ground cover.

Our advice: You can cut the flowers to create bouquets, which will promote future flowering.

Planting and care

Daylilies like sunny but cool exposures. Avoid conditions that are too dry or too shady, as they will reduce flowering. Plant them in fertile, cool, and well-drained soil. Water them well once or twice a week until the appearance of flower buds and apply liquid fertilizer every two to three weeks. During flowering, watering can be spaced out. Easy to grow, daylilies can sometimes be prone to rust and collar rot in case of high humidity combined with temperatures over 30°C (86°F). In periods of frequent freezing and thawing, bacterial rot of stems and leaves can occur. Slugs and snails attack young shoots.
