Hemerocallis Final Touch - Daylily

The 'Final Touch' Daylily offers large flowers measuring 12 cm (5in) in diameter, with petals subtly tinted pink and lavender and paler petals, with the two colours alternating. This charming flowering is fragrant.  Numerous buds extend the daylily season until the end of summer.

The Hemerocallis genus belongs to the Liliaceae family. These are perennial and hardy plants with deciduous or semi-evergreen foliage. In this variety, the clump will reach 80 cm (32in) in height, with a spread of 45 cm (18in), possibly more if the soil suits it. The flowers measure about 12 cm (5in) in diameter. The soft and quite unique colours of 'Final Touch' are enhanced by a touch of yellow-green in the centre. Daylilies, as their name suggests, do not last very long individually, but they constantly renew themselves over a beautiful period between July and September. This selection is particularly late, allowing you to extend the summer flowering period for a smooth transition to autumn colours. Don't hesitate to make beautiful bouquets with them. The foliage is thick, linear, and deciduous; it is a plant with short rhizomes and fleshy roots.

Very easy to grow, these perennials thrive in shade and sun. Some can be a bit invasive, so don't hesitate to divide the clumps every four or five years after flowering in autumn. Daylilies are often called "the perfect perennial plant" due to their vibrant colours, ability to tolerate any type of environment, and lack of modesty. They have a beautiful exuberance that goes well with other perennials. Plant them in generous clumps at the back of your borders. 'Final Touch' and its lovely shades of pink will blend very well with a range of similar tones or darker colours in contrast with purples. For a brighter effect, don't hesitate to combine them with yellow and cream colours. Consider summer-flowering bulbs and the flexible habit of grasses to lighten your borders. If you want to decorate balconies and patios with a daylily, use large pots at least 30 cm (12in) deep and prefer dwarf varieties. The flowers are edible: they brighten up salads and decorate desserts.

Over sixty thousand cultivars, mostly resulting from hybridisation by gardening enthusiasts, are catalogued, appreciated and studied by international Hemerocallis societies.
