Plant qui ne s'est pas développée depuis sa plantation au printemps. Disappointed.

Description

Anemone hybrida 'Andrea Atkinson' blooms in late summer and carries single pure white flowers of great elegance on sturdy stems.

A hardy perennial plant, the Japanese anemone 'Andrea Atkinson' blooms from mid-summer to autumn. Its floral stems, solid and upright, reach up to 1.20m (4ft) in height. The flowers measure 7 to 9cm (3 to 4in) in diameter.

Like other Japanese anemones, Andrea Atkinson thrives in moist, light and humus-rich soil. It tolerates brief episodes of drought and can withstand non-scorching sun.

A strong sucker-forming plant when grown in suitable conditions, the Japanese anemone thrives at the base of trees, in the edge of woodlands or at the back of borders, where it forms magnificent clumps.

You can plant it alongside persicarias, cimicifugas, and perennial geraniums.

And for your winter bouquets,  cut the stems when in bud and put in a vase.   These stems bearing what seem to be dry seed capsules, will be displaying white flowers  after 2 hours at room temperature.

Planting and care

Japanese anemones thrive in partial shade under tall trees. They tolerate occasional drought. In the first year, the young plant develops its roots in the soil, and it is only in the second year that it starts to sucker and flower properly.
