Description

Salvia pratensis Pink Delight, also known as meadow sage, is a highly floriferous perennial sage with inflorescences that bloom as early as May, adorned with large pale lavender-pink flowers that are truly unique!

Originally from Western Europe to the Caucasus, meadow sage is a very hardy perennial species that can tolerate sun and dry soils. The 'Pink Delight' variety produces multiflorous spike inflorescences in spring, reaching a height of 60 cm (24 in), adorned with pale lavender-pink flowers that are very bright. The flowers bloom from May and continue until the middle of summer. The deciduous leaves are ovate to oblong and rough, with crenate edges.

Easy to grow, Salvia pratensis Pink Delight thrives in full sun or partial shade, and prefers rich, light, and slightly acidic or alkaline soils. It can withstand dry soils in summer, which may induce a dormant state in arid regions during the summer months. It dislikes heavy soils and excess water in winter.

Plant 'Pink Delight' sage in a meadow garden, mixed border, or ornamental grass garden, as it forms beautiful combinations with these plants.

Planting and care

Place Salvia pratensis Pink Delight preferably in a sunny and bright spot. Plant it in a regular soil, as long as it is rich and moist but well drained. Meadow sage can tolerate dry conditions in summer, but it is sensitive to winter moisture. Flowering recurs abundantly at the end of the season if you take the trouble to cut the stems just after the first flowering.
