This Bahco P51-F hedge shear is a robust and high-performing pruning tool, originally designed for landscaping professionals and horticulturalists. It allows for repetitive, efficient, and precise work while offering appreciable comfort. It is ideally suited for creating and maintaining hedges or trees and shrubs with a dense and bushy habit, benefiting greatly from regular pruning. Its sharp serrated blades can cleanly cut relatively thick branches, and its lightweight aluminium handles, equipped with ergonomic grips, ensure a good grip. It is a highly versatile shear that is practical, manoeuvrable, and durable, indispensable in the garden.
The manual hedge trimmer is a manual cutting tool that resembles a large pair of scissors with long, crossing, sharpened blades and two long handles. It is mainly used for cutting live, flexible, green, and not-too-thick stems and branches. It is used by holding the blades horizontally or vertically against the surface to be trimmed and opening and closing the handles with both hands in one swift motion. The shear is mainly used for hedge maintenance. Still, it can also be used to roughly prune grasses, shrubs, and small shrubby or arboreal subjects with compact branches, which will help densify their vegetation. A mechanised hedge trimmer is preferred for very large areas to be trimmed.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
The flowering period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, etc.)
It will vary according to where you live:- In zones 9 to 10 (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), flowering will occur about 2 to 4 weeks earlier.
- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
