Thanks to the individuals (for order preparation and shipping), the rose bush received appears to be healthy. Planted near a wall, I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... (or not?).

Description

The 'Siluetta Sweet' Rose is part of the Siluetta series, a line of roses developed in Germany by Kordes for their vigorous climbing habit, small size as they reach a maximum of 2m (7ft), and covered in a multitude of small flowers measuring 4cm (2in) in diameter. Very floriferous, their floribundity is matched only by their robustness and disease resistance. The sweetness of Sweet is expressed through its semi-double flowers, delicately scented, white with hints of soft pink. Small but fully open in corolla, they reveal their yellow stamens and generously bloom throughout the summer. They are gathered in clusters on perfectly healthy, satin green foliage.

'Siluetta Sweet' is a highly recurrent climbing rose obtained by Kordes and appeared on the European market in 2019. Very vigorous, it shows a flexible habit and thorny stems, reaching a height of 1.80m (6ft) with a spread of 70cm (28in). Its green and satin foliage is exceptionally healthy and perfectly highlights the beautiful clusters of small flowers measuring 4cm (2in) in a lavender pink. It blooms almost continuously, from May to September, abundantly, provided it does not lack water. Its flowers are semi-double, with a rather loose structure. Their fragrance, fresh and relatively light, can be classified as wild roses.

The Siluetta roses are well suited to elegantly cover a fence, a pergola, or a trellis on a wall. They allow for the creation of modest yet sumptuous decorations throughout the summer period. They require very little maintenance, apart from regular watering in summer during periods of intense heat and prolonged drought. Mix them or combine them with easy-to-grow large-flowered clematis like Broughton Star. They are good companions for paniculate phlox, delphiniums, foxgloves, catmints, and tall baby's breath. Sweet also thrives in a pot on a small balcony, in partial shade and happily blends with the white and pink summer blooms.

Planting and care

From November to March, plant the 'Siluetta Sweet' rose in ordinary, well-worked, and well-drained soil. Roses prefer clay soils over light soils. In case of sandy, compact, or dry soil during summer, it's best to add compost or well-rotted material at the bottom of the planting hole. However, this rose doesn't do well in waterlogged soils during winter. Place it in a sunny location, preferably in partial shade. Roses require a lot of nutrients, so a specific fertiliser will be helpful at the beginning of growth and regularly throughout the flowering season. To stimulate reblooming, it's necessary to remove faded flowers regularly. In late winter, prune the stems to roughly one-quarter of their length (from 4 to 6 buds from the base of the stem). Always prune above an outward-facing bud to encourage bushy growth and prevent branches from intertwining in the centre.

Roses may appear stained or unsightly at the end of summer. However, it is a natural phenomenon that doesn't harm their development.
