Rosa Amber Voluptia - Shrub Rose

'Amber Voluptia' is part of the new range of large, scented roses from Decorosiers, appreciated for over 20 years for their natural disease resistance and excellent floribundity. This shrub rose produces very double, durable, beautifully shaped roses, with a refined amber pink colour, exuding an intense fruity fragrance. With its slightly nostalgic charm, it provides an exceptional, almost permanent decoration, requires very little maintenance, and offers a long uninterrupted flowering from May to the first frost. Easy, generous, undemanding and charming, it is suitable for planting in flower beds alongside simple perennials or bushes with colourful foliage.

'Amber Voluptia' was bred in 2017 by the German rose breeder Reinhard Noack. It is classified as a modern shrub rose. Its clustered flowers come from the polyantha rose, an old hybrid derived from Rosa multiflora and Rosa chinensis. The plant forms an upright bush, slightly taller than wide, about 80 cm (32in) to 1m (3ft) high and 50 cm wide, depending on the growing conditions. Its reddish young shoots harmonise with the very soft colour of the flowers. It is floriferous and produces an abundance of 8 cm (3in) double flowers from May-June to October. Each flower has over 30 petals, in a delightful tender salmon cream colour, becoming more pink and amber in the centre of the corolla. They have an intense fragrance and remain beautiful for a long time on the bush and in a vase. They are gathered in small clusters. Its very healthy foliage is composed of small, fairly dark green leaves that cover thorny stems. This variety tolerates heat well and thrives in any well-prepared soil.

The Amber Voluptia rose can be used in flower beds, borders, large spaces, slopes, or low hedges. It thrives in all soils that are not too wet and all climates, allowing it to be grow everywhere. It has a bushy growth habit that works well in low shrub beds, in the background of a Decorosier border with lower varieties such as Vesuvia, Isalia, Emera. When planted en masse, it can border pathways and highlight flower beds. It can be grown with perennial geraniums (Geranium Blue Cloud, Anne Folkard, Nimbus, Orion), bellflowers (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, lavenders, snapdragons, foxgloves, or Stachys. Left to grow freely, it will form a neat bush, perfect for adding a touch of romance and fragrance to the terrace. It also makes beautiful cut flowers!
