Thanks to Anne Flore for preparing the order and Clémentine from the shipping department, the rose bush I received appears to be healthy. Planted near the 'Fortuna' rose bush, I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... (or not?)

Description

The Decorosier 'Mareva' Rose is a bush rose with a spreading habit. This variation of the 'Emera' variety offers a beautiful fragrant flowering and rather abundant from May to June until the first frost. Numerous semi-double flowers of a light pink then emerge on long arched and creeping branches. The 6 cm (2in) diameter flowers are clustered.

The foliage of this rose is semi-evergreen. It is a shiny dark green foliage that persists in regions with mild winters. At maturity, it can reach a height of 60 to 80 cm (24 to 32in) with a spread of about 50 cm (20in). The 'Mareva' Rose is a rose with good hardiness.

It is called a ground cover rose because of its creeping branches. It perfectly covers a slope, a rockery or even a border. It can be grown in flower beds and low hedges. The 'Mareva' Rose pairs well with small bushes and perennials. The flowers form beautiful bouquets and it can be grown in pots to be placed on terraces or balconies. This rose is also decorative in a planter.

Planting and care

The Decorosier 'Mareva' Rosebush will thrive in the sun. This vigorous bush has no specific soil requirements as long as it is sufficiently rich. When planting, work the soil to a depth of 30 cm (12in) x 30 cm (12in) around, crumble the soil well, and place an amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Prepare a thick mud mixture with water and soil. Dip your plant in the mud to coat the roots and eliminate any air bubbles (this is called "pralinage" in French). Position your plant in the planting hole, spreading out the roots, and check the depth: the graft point should be just above the ground. Fill with soil and gently tamp down as you go. Prune the branches to 15/20 cm (6/8in) to stimulate growth. Create a shallow basin around the base of the roses and water abundantly with a fine mist to eliminate air pockets and help the soil adhere to the roots. In very cold regions, it may be helpful to mulch with leaves to a depth of 20 cm (8in) around the base of your plants. During the growing season, water the rosebush abundantly during dry spells, while avoiding watering during the hottest hours of the day or wetting the foliage. Suspend watering during frost. Decorosier roses require minimal maintenance and do not require pruning. However, it is possible to prune them to half their general size in spring. In summer, removing faded flowers will stimulate the growth of new flowers. Naturally resistant to diseases, the 'Mareva' rosebush does not require fungicidal treatments.
