I received my order of an Opalia rose bush with leaves/stems full of black spots, and the new shoots are also affected by rust disease... I don't think it's going to recover, so I'm leaving it in the pot. I did send a message with photos of the plant, hoping for a solution. I'm really very disappointed!

Description

The Decorosier 'Opalia' Climbing Rose bears semi-double flowers of 6 cm (2in) in pure white and fragrant. It can be used in many applications: walls, pergolas, arbors, fences, old trees.

The Decorosier can be planted in any type of soil, in sunny or semi-shaded areas. They offer long exceptional flowering on healthy, glossy, semi-evergreen foliage. We deliver the rose in a soil pocket, measuring 1 m (3ft) upon shipping.

Their qualities have been rewarded with 8 gold medals and 6 ADR labels. Naturally resistant to diseases, they do not require treatment.

ADR is the label of the German Federation of Rose Breeders. The ADR designation is only granted to varieties that have passed the strictest controls in the world. The plants are tested simultaneously at 10 different locations, in various soil and climate conditions for several years. The tests focus on hardiness, perennial character, and flowering without the use of any pesticides.

Planting and care

How to plant roses in peat pockets? Work your soil on a 30 cm (12in) x 30 cm (12in) area, crumble the soil well and put an amendment like dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole, and prepare a mound of soil at the bottom of the hole. Prepare a bucket of thick mud with water and soil. Dip your plant in the mud to coat the roots and prevent air bubbles (this is called dressing). Position your plant in the planting hole, spreading out the roots and checking the depth: the graft point should be just above the ground. Fill with soil and gently tamp down as you go. Create a basin at the base of the rose and water abundantly with a fine rain to eliminate air pockets and make the soil adhere to the roots. In very cold regions, it may be useful to mulch with leaves or turf up to 20 cm (8in) at the base of your plants. In summer, removing faded flowers will stimulate the growth of new flowers. Naturally resistant to diseases, it does not require fungicidal treatments.

Roses are often stained or unsightly at the end of summer, but this is not a problem for their development. These spots are not harmful to the rose, it is a natural phenomenon.
