Thank you to the individuals (Ludivine for the order preparation and ? from the shipping department), the rose bush received is healthy. Planted near the 'Strawberry Hill' rose bush, I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... (or not?).

Description

The Rosier Generosa 'Agnès Schilliger' is a modern, highly fragrant, and continuously flowering bush, dedicated to Agnès Schilliger, known and appreciated for her beautiful floral compositions. This bush produces abundant bouquets with full cups organized in quarters, like the roses of yesteryear. The numerous petals of a deep and vibrant pink tinged with violet encase the wonderful fragrance of roses where one can detect spicy and fruity notes. Naturally perfect in a vase, the flowers are delightful on the bush, planted in a flower bed or a pretty pot on the terrace.

The Generosa roses are modern (even ultra-modern) with the appearance of old-fashioned roses. They combine the charm of roses from the past with the robustness, surprising colours, and long flowering of modern roses.

The Rosier Generosa 'Agnès Schilliger' is a bush rose with a relatively upright habit. When fully grown, it will reach about 1m (3ft) in height and 80cm (32in) in width. The flowering starts in May-June and only stops with the arrival of frost. The flowers in this variety are grouped in bouquets carried by sturdy stems. The plant produces countless buds of very deep pink that open into large cups measuring 8cm (3in). The flowers are double, and their 40 slightly toothed petals are tightly packed in a round flower. Their deep pink colour is rich in fuchsia and purple hues, with the centre of the flower being darker. They give off a pronounced and complex fragrance with notes of ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, raspberry, strawberry, and red currant. The foliage is abundant, deciduous, shiny, dark green, and requires little maintenance. This bush is very hardy.

The 'Agnès Schilliger' should be present in every cut flower garden, even the smallest ones. Perfect in a large border or a small hedge, it can also be planted individually or in groups of 3 at the centre of a bed of light-flowering perennials composed, for example, of catmints, lavenders, or bellflowers. Grasses and foliage plants like fennel are ideal for enhancing its beauty and accompanying it late in the season. Pair it with Geranium psilostemon, shrubby salvias, and magenta or white lychnis with Panic, Miscanthus Ghana, or Nepeta Walker's Low. 'Agnès Schilliger' also adapts well to container cultivation, allowing it to be placed on the patio or balcony to enjoy its flowering up close throughout the summer.

Planting and care

Rose bushes need sunlight for 4-5 hours every day, but it's best to protect them from the strong sun and wind. They grow best in loose, permeable soil that is rich in humus. The soil should be well-cultivated and rich enough, but they can also grow in any type of soil.

If you're planting them in a pot, loosen the soil to a depth of 10 inches and add a base amendment like blood, fish and bone at the bottom of the planting hole. Position the plant and cover the top of the root ball with 1 inch of soil. Fill in the hole, press down the soil, and water generously to eliminate air pockets. Water regularly during dry weather for a few weeks to help the roots develop. Use special rose fertilisers to promote flowering.

Roses may develop unsightly spots at the end of summer, but this is a natural occurrence and doesn't harm the rose's growth.
