Thanks to the people (order preparation & shipping), the rose bush received is healthy. It was very heavily shaken during transport (broken branches, and soil spilled in the box), but after a thorough cleaning and pruning of dead wood, it was immediately planted with granular fertilizer. Now I'm waiting for it to recover...

Description

The Rosa generosa 'Fiona Gelin' provides remarkable flowers from May to the first frost. The large double flowers are very well supplied with no less than 60 petals. Their colour changes from soft coppery pink to apricot pink throughout the seasons.

The flowering is fragrant with notes of violet, lemon, grapefruit, apricot, white pepper, vanilla, and muscat depending on the atmosphere. It is a flowering that has the advantage of being perpetual. The 'Fiona Gelin' rose has dark and shiny foliage that enhances the colour of the flowers. This foliage is deciduous.

The generosa rose has very good hardiness. It is a vigorous and healthy bush. The 'Fiona Gelin' variety can reach a height of 1m (3ft) at maturity. It is grown both in flower beds in your gardens and in pots on your terraces and balconies. You can cut its flowers to make lovely bouquets.

This generosa rose was created in 2006 in honor of Fiona Gelin.

Planting and care

Roses prefer a sunny location (at least 4 to 5 hours of sun per day) but sheltered from the scorching midday rays and strong winds. They appreciate loose, permeable, deep, and fertile soils. They prefer a neutral to slightly acidic soil, but will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well worked and sufficiently rich. To plant your rose in a pot, work the soil to a depth of 25 cm (10in) by crumbling the soil and placing a basal amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn, position your seedling in the hole by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, fill in and water generously to remove air pockets. In dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting. Also, remember to provide your rose with special rose fertiliser that stimulates plant flowering. Prune the branches by one third each spring.
