Thanks to the individuals (for order preparation and shipping), the rose bush I received appears healthy. Planted close to the variety "Bee's Paradise Mongo", I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... or not?

More information

This very bushy rose produces clusters of small semi-double flowers, 3-4 cm (1-2in) in diameter, in shades of mango, mandarin, and raspberry, with a stamen-filled centre. It blooms continuously from June to October, on lovely foliage that is very disease-resistant. Hardy, robust, and easy to grow, it can be used as ground cover, in borders, or in pots. It is loved by bees and other pollinators and fits well in a natural garden.

Description

Fruity adds to the range of compact roses in the Bees Paradise series with its fruity-toned flowers. Its small, almost single flowers welcome bees and other pollinators and continuously bloom on a very healthy and easy-to-maintain plant. Forming beautiful flowering cushions, 'Bees Paradise' flowers have a large heart of easily accessible, pollen-rich stamens. Its small size allows Fruity to be grown in gardens of all sizes, modern, romantic, or natural, or a pot on the terrace.

The flowers of 'Fruity' are gathered in small terminal clusters, like the polyantha rose, an old hybrid derived from Rosa multiflora and R. chinensis. They are particularly rich in nectar and pollen. It forms a well-branched, low bush, approximately 50 cm (20in) high and 60 cm (24in) wide. The flowers are semi-double cups, with a diameter of 2 to 4 cm (1 to 2in), composed of 5 to 10 petals in different shades of orange, and raspberry to fuchsia pink with a golden yellow stamen-filled centre. The flowering begins in June and continues until October, uninterrupted if the soil remains slightly moist in summer. In Bees Paradise roses, the faded flowers fall off naturally, without the need for deadheading. Flowering will slow down if the soil is too dry in summer, and resume in September. This variety has fairly dark, glossy, deciduous foliage that falls in autumn. Its resistance to rose diseases is excellent.

Rosa Bees Paradise Fruity is robust and hardy, growing in all soils that are not too dry but prefering fertile and deep soils. Its dense and low habit means it can be used in large borders, not too dry rockeries, or on slopes. It can also be planted in groups of 5 in the centre of a small bed. Plant it en masse along a path or to highlight shrub borders. It pairs well with light or opulent perennials, or with other dwarf roses from the Bee's Paradise series, the 'Bordure Blanche' Rose, or the 'Bordure vive' Rose. It can be planted with perennial geraniums (Geranium Blue Cloud, Anne Folkard, Nimbus, Orion, Rozanne), campanulas (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, snapdragons, foxgloves, or carnations. It is perfect for decorating the terrace or balcony, planted in a beautiful pot or a large planter.

Obtained by Tantau (Germany) in 2019.

Planting and care

Bees Paradise Fruity roses prefer a sunny location (at least 4 to 5 hours of sunshine per day) but protected from the scorching midday rays and strong winds. They thrive in loose, well-drained, deep, and fertile soil. They prefer neutral to slightly acidic soil but will grow in any garden as long as the soil is well-worked and sufficiently rich. To plant your rose, prepare the soil in a 25 cm (10in) cube by digging well and adding a base amendment such as bonemeal. Remove your rose from its pot and position, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, then fill in and water thoroughly to eliminate air pockets. In dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to aid root growth. Provide your rose with special rose fertiliser that stimulates flowering.
