Description

This 'Charming' Rose Bush carries its name admirably with its small double roses of great freshness. This adorable miniature rose bush is generous, especially during its first late spring flowering. Its dark green and glossy foliage is adorned with delightful bouquets of small campanulate double corollas with bristle petals of a very bright pink, revealing a cream reverse arranged around a small pale yellow heart. This healthy rose bush has obtained the ADR label in Germany, a guarantee of robust health. It can be planted anywhere: in a border, in a flower bed, in a small hedge, or even in a large pot on the terrace or balcony.

The flowers of the 'Charmant' Miniature Rose (Rosa (x)) come from the polyantha rose, an old hybrid derived from Rosa multiflora and Rosa chinensis. 'Charmant' has a bushy habit with a slightly spreading and slightly wider-than-tall dome shape. It will not exceed 40 cm (16in) in height with a spread of 50 cm (20in). The flowers, small double cups of 4 cm (2in), very full, in the shape of rosettes, slightly fragrant, are bicoloured, with a bright and luminous pink with a cream reverse, fading a little over time. They bloom in large numbers in large pyramid-shaped clusters in May-June and September. This vigorous and disease-resistant variety develops tough, dark green to bronze, semi-evergreen, glossy foliage. Its reddish stems bear thorns.

The 'Charmant' rose bush is a hardy plant that can thrive in any soil condition except for excessively dry ones. It typically prefers fertile soils. Its compact and well-groomed appearance makes it a great fit for rockeries or slopes where it can provide ground coverage. Alternatively, it can be planted in groupings of three plants arranged in a triangular pattern or placed individually on a short grass meadow. It can also be used to line paths or accentuate shrub beds. The 'Charmant' rose bush is a versatile plant and can be paired with a variety of perennials such as geraniums, campanulate flowers, catmints, snapdragons, foxgloves, and Stachys. It is also ideal for decorating patios or balconies and can be planted in beautiful pots or planters.

Planting and care

Planting your rose requires some preparation. Begin by working the soil to a depth of 25 cubic cm and adding a base amendment like blood, fish, and bone to the bottom of the planting hole. Remove the plant from its pot and position it by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Refill the hole and water generously to eliminate any air pockets. It's essential to water the rose regularly for a few weeks during dry weather to help the roots grow. Use a special rose fertiliser that stimulates plant flowering. Choose a sunny location or partial shade to plant your rose in hot regions.

Roses may develop unsightly spots at the end of summer, but this is a natural occurrence and doesn't harm the rose's growth.
