Rose
Very good recovery for this rose bush. I am looking forward to seeing it bloom in the summer. The rose bush was vigorous upon arrival.

Description
Rosa Star Profusion is a fantastic ground-cover rose with continuous flowering from summer to autumn. This compact and dense bush will quickly fill empty spaces with small red and white wild roses with a golden heart, above dense and very healthy foliage. Undemanding, exuberant and vigorous, it is indispensable in the garden, in borders, in flower beds or in a small hedge.
Rosa Star Profusion, obtained in 1997 by the British hybridizer Colin P. Horner, is classified as a modern, patio, shrub or groundcover rose. Its clustered flowers come from the polyantha rose, an old hybrid derived from Rosa multiflora and Rosa chinensis. The plant is a very dense bush 60 cm (24in) tall, forming a spread and trailing dome of about 1 m (3ft) wide (sometimes up to 90 cm (35in) to 1 m (3ft) tall and up to 300 cm (118in) wide). It is very floriferous and produces lots of single flowers with 4 to 7 petals, in open cups, measuring 3 to 4 cm (1 to 2in) in diameter, vividly edged in fuchsia red on a white background, around a heart of fully developed golden yellow stamens. The reverse of the petals is yellow. The red gradually changes to pink and the white to cream, creating a multicoloured effect on the bush. The flowers are grouped in slightly scented clusters. Its deciduous foliage is rarely diseased and is composed of very small, bright green leaves that cover long thorny stems.
The 'Star Profusion' rose can be used in flower beds, borders, large spaces, or low hedges. It adapts to all soils that are not too wet and all climates, which allows it to be grown everywhere. It has a beautiful density and covers the ground more effectively than most other ground-cover roses. It works well on a slope or in a large rockery. Planted en masse, it can border paths and highlight flower beds. For example, it can be planted with grasses or perennial geraniums (Geranium Blue Cloud, Anne Folkard, Nimbus, Orion), bellflowers (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, snapdragons, foxgloves or Stachys. Left to grow freely, it will form a bush with a blurred, flowery and cloudy silhouette, with a very natural appearance in front of a flower bed composed of abelias, Kolkwitzia, mock oranges, elderberries or Forsythia, for example.

Planting and care
Rose bushes prefer a sunny location (at least 4 to 5 hours of sunshine per day), sheltered from the scorching rays of midday, and strong winds. Rose bushes like loose, permeable, and humus-rich soils. They prefer slightly acidic soil but will thrive in any garden as long as the soil is well-prepared and sufficiently rich. To plant your rose bush, work the soil to a depth of 25 cm (10in), breaking up the soil well and placing a base fertiliser such as bonemeal at the bottom of the planting hole. Remove your rose from its pot and position, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, backfill, and water generously to eliminate air pockets. In dry weather, regular watering is necessary for a few weeks to facilitate root development. Provide your rose bush with special rose fertiliser that stimulates flowering.
Pruning: at the end of winter cut out old wood and prune to 2/3 of its growth.
Rose bushes are often stained or unsightly at the end of summer, but it is not a problem for their development. These spots are not harmful to the rose bush; it is a natural phenomenon.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
The flowering period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, etc.)
It will vary according to where you live:- In zones 9 to 10 (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), flowering will occur about 2 to 4 weeks earlier.
- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
The planting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands).
It will vary according to where you live:
- In Mediterranean zones (Marseille, Madrid, Milan, etc.), autumn and winter are the best planting periods.
- In continental zones (Strasbourg, Munich, Vienna, etc.), delay planting by 2 to 3 weeks in spring and bring it forward by 2 to 4 weeks in autumn.
- In mountainous regions (the Alps, Pyrenees, Carpathians, etc.), it is best to plant in late spring (May-June) or late summer (August-September).
The harvesting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions in USDA zone 8 (France, England, Ireland, the Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...) fruit and vegetable harvests are likely to be delayed by 3-4 weeks.
In warmer areas (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), harvesting will probably take place earlier, depending on weather conditions.
The sowing periods indicated on our website apply to countries and regions within USDA Zone 8 (France, UK, Ireland, Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...), delay any outdoor sowing by 3-4 weeks, or sow under glass.
In warmer climes (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), bring outdoor sowing forward by a few weeks.
