Thanks to the individuals (for order preparation and shipping), the rose bush I received appears healthy. Planted near the specific research area "Maurice Utrillo" variety, I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... (or not?)." Analysis of the translated text: - The phrase "specific research area" has been used to replace "variété" to maintain the context and meaning of the sentence. - The word "rosier" has been translated as "rose bush" to accurately convey the type of plant. - The phrase "Mis en terre" has been translated as "Planted" to reflect the action of putting the rose bush into the ground. - The phrase "j'attends maintenant patiemment la reprise...(ou pas ?)" has been translated as "I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... (or not?)" to capture the sense of anticipation and uncertainty expressed in the original text.

Description

The 'Augusta Luise' Rose is a modern hybrid tea rose from the 'Nostalgie' series developed by German rosarian Tantau. Its continuous flowering from June to September is endowed with the charm and fragrance of old roses. Its voluptuous and very flirtatious flowers do not go unnoticed in the garden, both for their champagne-pink colour, a blend of pale salmon pink and apricot, and for their beautiful scent. Of medium size, it is well suited for the back of perennial borders and will easily integrate into a flowering hedge. Its fragrant roses, gathered in small bouquets and carried by long stems, are wonderful in arrangements.

'Augusta Luise' is a modern shrub rose related to hybrid tea roses, obtained in 1999 by Tantau, who has won several awards in New Zealand and Germany. This shrub with a bushy and dense habit, producing numerous shoots from the base, reaches about 1 m (3ft) in height and 80 cm (32in) in width at maturity, with rapid growth. It produces strong branches, which bear an elegant, dark green and glossy foliage, not very susceptible to diseases if the growing conditions are correct. Throughout the summer, if faded flowers are removed, its large flowers composed of more than 40 petals, measuring 12 cm (5in) in diameter, emerge from spiraled buds, initially spherical, then gradually round out, finally opening widely, with undulated petals. They are grouped in small bouquets, in pairs or threes, at the end of long shoots from the current year or emerging from two-year-old stems.

This 'Augusta Luise' rose, with its large flowers that do not go unnoticed in the garden, reveals the richness of its colours better in semi-shade. Of medium size, bushy, it is ideal for planting in a small hedge or in a group of 3 plants. It blends well in summer or autumn flowering shrub borders, or mixed with light perennials such as baby's breath, paniculate phlox or tall foxgloves. It will be well highlighted in front of a boxwood or yew screen, or, conversely, surrounded by a miniature hedge or a carefully organised maze, as in Italian or French gardens. Above all, it is a generous rose, which can be paired, for example, with a double-flowered clematis (Clematis viticella Purpurea Plena Elegans) that can be placed near the house to also enjoy its fragrance.

Planting and care

Plant your Augusta Luise® Rose in a sunny or lightly shaded location. Modern roses are tolerant but do not appreciate excess limestone. They will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well cultivated, not too heavy, and sufficiently rich. To plant your rose, work the soil well by crumbling it and add an amendment, such as dried blood or dehydrated horn, to the bottom of the planting hole. Water generously after planting to eliminate air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth. This rose is hardy to approximately -17°C (1.4°F).

Care

Pruning instructions Pruning modern perpetual roses is essential for flowering. It is done in three stages: 1. Maintenance pruning: regularly shorten the branches that have bloomed during the season. To encourage the reblooming of perpetual roses, remove faded flowers along with their stems, leaving 2 or 3 leaves. 2. Preparatory autumn pruning: light pruning that anticipates the true spring pruning. In regions with cold winters, it is not recommended tas it can weaken the bush. 3. Spring pruning: in February-March, when the buds have become shoots 2 to 3 cm (1in) long: prune the young strong branches to a quarter of their length. Pruning always aims to open up the centre of the bush and remove dead wood, diseased branches, and weak shoots. Keep the most vigorous branches, usually 3 to 6 well-positioned branches, to maintain a beautiful habit. Always prune at an angle, ½ cm or 1 cm (<1in) above an outward-facing bud.
Pruning Pruning recommended once a year
