Received rose plant very quickly, well packaged, BUT BIG DISAPPOINTMENT: strong attack of black spot despite your description stating: "beautiful naturally disease-resistant dark green foliage". However, this attack is not recent, the base of the pot is littered with dried leaves, probably from last year. Questions: Is this really Elaine Page or is your description incorrect?

Description

The 'Elaine Paige' Rose will seduce lovers of large, classic, colourful and fragrant flowers, like those in florist bouquets. With their bright pink colour, these well-double flowers have a fresh and elegant fragrance. They bloom in small clusters of 3 to 5 units on each stem from June until the first frost, enhanced by beautiful, dark, shiny foliage that is sturdy and resistant to diseases. It is a flower for bouquets and the garden in large rose beds that will not go unnoticed!

The 'Elaine Paige' Rose or 'Poulht008', registered by the Poulsen rose breeder in 2011, is classified as a modern hybrid tea rose. This excellent variety has won numerous awards in international competitions for its fragrance, floribundity and natural disease resistance. The plant is vigorous and compact, forming a small bushy shrub with a slightly upright habit, a bit stiff, with vigorous and rapid growth. It will reach a height of about 80 cm (32in) with a spread of 60 cm (24in). From May-June until very late in the season, beautiful modern roses, 10 to 12 cm (4 to 5in) wide, open on a well-furnished foliage of dark olive-green and shiny leaves, carried by long sturdy stems. They are a bright pink colour that fades slightly towards salmon at the opening before paling as they fade. Their fragrance is pronounced. The foliage is very disease-resistant and perfectly enhances the bright colour of the roses—a very hardy variety.

This modern rose 'Elaine Paige', with its fragrance, the elegant classicism of its pink flowers, and its beautiful floribundity, will find its place in the garden in a large rose bed or as a standalone specimen in a well-maintained garden. It adapts to all soils that are not too dry and all climates, tolerating both rain and heat, which allows it to be welcomed without reservation from the north to the south of our country, even at medium altitude. It pairs perfectly with white or mauve roses, and with pretty and easy-to-grow perennials such as perennial geraniums (Geranium Blue Cloud, Anne Folkard, Nimbus, Orion), bellflowers (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, snapdragons, foxgloves... Its flowers can be used to create very 'professional' bouquets that delicately perfume the house.

Planting and care

Planting your rose requires some preparation. Begin by working the soil to a depth of 40 cubic cm and adding a base amendment like blood, fish, and bone to the bottom of the planting hole. Remove the plant from its pot and position it by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Refill the hole and water generously to eliminate any air pockets. It's essential to water the rose regularly for a few weeks during dry weather to help the roots grow. Use a special rose fertiliser that stimulates plant flowering. Choose a sunny location or partial shade to plant your rose in hot regions.

Roses may develop unsightly spots at the end of summer, but this is a natural occurrence and doesn't harm the rose's growth.
