More information

ADR
This bush rose produces double roses of 8-10 cm in the English style, cream in colour, with a lightly salmon-tinted heart when fully open. They are slightly fragrant. They bloom in clusters from June to October on a small, vigorous bush with a harmonious habit, reaching a height of 80 cm (32in). This variety, excellent in every way, has received the prestigious German ADR label. It will be superb in a flowerbed, but will also adapt very well to pot cultivation.

Description

The Kosmos Rosebush is a variety from Kordes, whose nostalgic charm hides good health and great robustness. It is a small bush but with a beautiful generosity that blooms in successive waves from early summer until the first frosts. Its beautiful, doubled, cream-coloured roses have a lightly salmon-coloured heart when fully open, and they resist the rain well. They bloom in lightly scented bouquets, perfectly highlighted by a beautiful, dark green glossy foliage that remains attractive throughout the season. A romantic and carefree rosebush for the garden or balcony, superb next to purple or yellow flowers.

The Kosmos 'KORpriggos' Rose, introduced by the German rose breeder Kordes in 2006, received the German ADR label in 2007, one of the most demanding in the world. Varieties are evaluated under real conditions, without any treatment for three years and in various growing conditions. They are judged on their beauty, flowering, fragrance, colour, vegetation, habit, hardiness, growth, and resistance to fungal diseases.

Kosmos quickly forms a bushy and spreading bush, 70 to 80 cm (28 to 32in) in height and 50 cm (20in) in width. It is a highly recurrent floribunda variety, with the flowers opening in clusters. The flower buds are yellow to pale salmon pink, a shade that is found in the heart of the roses when they bloom. The flowers of Kosmos are fully double, 8 to 10 cm (3 to 4in) wide. Initially turbinate, these roses open up into a more free corolla. The flowering is abundant and almost continuous until October, provided the soil remains moist. From spring onwards, the branches bear a glossy foliage, of a fairly dark green colour. The deciduous leaves fall in autumn.

This Kosmos bush rose, with its pastel flowering, deserves an equally graceful setting and a place not far from the house. Some light-flowering perennial plants (Autumn Asters, foxgloves, catmints), as well as grasses, are ideal for enhancing its beauty and accompanying it late in the season. Also, combine it with a purple or orange-yellow rose. Planted in groups of 3 to 5 on a carpet of silver basket (Cerastium tomentosum) or Caucasian Forget-Me-Not, it will create a delightful bed that will require very little maintenance. Also, invite it into a large pot on your terrace or balcony. Its flowers make beautiful romantic bouquets, in the company of peonies and white lilacs.

Planting and care

To plant your 'Kosmos' rose, prepare your soil to a depth of 40 cm (16in) by loosening the earth and adding a basal amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Position your young plant, covering the graft point with 3 cm (1in) of soil, fill the hole and water generously to remove any air pockets. In dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting. Also, remember to provide your rose with special rose fertiliser that stimulates flowering of the plants.
