Rosa Fragonard - Hybrid Tea Rose

The Fragonard Rose Bush (Delparviro) is a modern hybrid tea rose baptized by Delbard and the Fragonard House, a famous perfumer from the Riviera, during the Rose Festival at the Ephrussi de Rothschild Gardens in 2012. This bush bears opulent, highly double roses in vibrant pink colour, with a pronounced scent of old-fashioned roses. Its early and abundant flowering continues until October, highlighted throughout the season by its dark green foliage resistant to diseases. This rose, awarded 6 times for its ornamental qualities and performance in the garden, is a reliable choice for all gardens.

'Fragonard' or 'Delparviro' is a modern bush rose with large flowers obtained by Delbard in 2011. Having won numerous awards at international competitions (in Spain, Italy, and the international floralies of Nantes...), this rose proves resistant to many diseases. It is a bushy and upright shrub reaching approximately 90 cm (35in) in height and 70 cm (28in) in width at maturity, with rapid growth. It produces solid, thorny and well-branched branches, which bear elegant foliage with a shiny dark green colour. If faded flowers are removed from May to October, the plant produces successive waves of large bright pink buds that open into large fleshy flowers measuring 10 cm (4in) in diameter, reminiscent of hybrid teas and old-fashioned roses. They consist of delicately fringed 90 petals in a warm, very bright pink colour. They are solitary and borne at the end of long shoots from the current year or emerging from the 2-year-old stems. The fragrance of the flowers rated 9 out of 10, is described as follows: a perfume with earthy notes of grapefruit, flowery rose, fruity apricot, mango, and raspberry. 

This 'Fragonard' rose will find its place in the garden of a fragrance enthusiast, whether they are a beginner or experienced. It deserves an elegant setting and a spot not far from the house. Some light-flowering perennial plants (autumn asters, foxgloves, penstemons), grasses, lavender, and catmints, are ideal for enhancing its beauty and accompanying it late in the season. For example, pair it with a red or garnet rose (Charles de Mills, Papa Meilland, Roseraie de l'Haÿ, Hansa); their colours and fragrances create a beautiful symphony. Simple and easy-to-grow perennials like Geranium Rozanne, Geranium Pink Cloud, Nepeta Walker's Low, and campanulas will accompany it for most of the summer. It will also look great as a solitary specimen, for example, in a group of 3 plants and in a large pot on your terrace or balcony. Its flowers make beautiful romantic bouquets in the company of pink or red peonies and lilacs.
