Rosa Parfum de Nantes ® 'Adasixalo'
Did Thierry manage to see his 801st rose bush come back to life in spring? The suspense is killing me... ;) I would have loved to have Thierry's email address to exchange with him; he must have a lot of good advice. I'm planning to plant several varieties of rose bushes myself; for now, I only have one and I'm also waiting for the spring recovery... (or not?) Fingers crossed!

Description
Rosa Parfum de Nantes is a new variety created by hybridiser Michel Adam at the request of the city of Nantes. This sturdy bush bears an abundance of roses with a unique and fresh colour in pink and creamy-white. They bloom from spring to autumn. The bush is adorned with beautiful dark green shiny foliage that is fairly disease-resistant. It can be planted in borders, as a standalone plant, or in a small hedge. Its roses are, of course, very beautiful in bouquets.
Rosa Parfum de Nantes 'Adasixalo' won the 1st international prize from the city of Nantes at the Perfumed Biennial of the city of Nantes in 2015. This hybrid tea rose is classified as Floribunda, with flowers grouped in corymbs or small bouquets. The plant forms an upright, branched, vigorously growing bush. It will reach an average height of 1.1m (4ft), with a spread of 70cm (28in). From May to June, it bears small bouquets of 3 to 5 highly fragrant roses, 10 to 12cm (4 to 5in) in diameter. They are composed of 30 to 40 slightly irregular petals, sometimes lobed, arranged spirally in a fairly loose cup, which gracefully unfold. Their colour is a blend of off-white and light and vibrant pink, with pink on the petal edges and undersides. The flowers will continue to bloom until late in the season if faded roses are regularly removed. This rose is highly disease-resistant. It bears large, dark green, shiny leaflets that fall in autumn. It will thrive when planted in rich, deep soil that remains moist in summer.
Rosa Parfum de Nantes rose is a gem that will be adored by fans of fragrant roses. Romantic and charming, it will work wonders in a large rose bed, at the front of a shrub bed, or as a standalone plant in a well-maintained small garden. The fresh colour of its flowers easily pairs with all pastel blooms, as well as the range of blues, purples, and violets. Consider planting it with easy-to-grow plants such as Chinese peonies, perennial geraniums (Geranium 'Blue Cloud', G. 'Anne Folkard', G. 'Nimbus', G. 'Orion'), bellflowers (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, perennial salvias, and foxgloves. Dwarf buddleias also make lovely companions for bush roses. Its flowers can be used to create romantic bouquets that delicately perfume the home.

Planting and care
Choose a sunny location, or partial shade in very hot regions. To plant your rose bush, work the soil to a depth of 25cm (10in), crumble the soil well, and place a base amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn in the planting hole. Position your young plant, removed from its pot, covering the top of the root ball with 3cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate any air pockets. In dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root development. Provide your rose bush with special rose fertiliser that stimulates flowering.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
The flowering period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, etc.)
It will vary according to where you live:- In zones 9 to 10 (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), flowering will occur about 2 to 4 weeks earlier.
- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
The planting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands).
It will vary according to where you live:
- In Mediterranean zones (Marseille, Madrid, Milan, etc.), autumn and winter are the best planting periods.
- In continental zones (Strasbourg, Munich, Vienna, etc.), delay planting by 2 to 3 weeks in spring and bring it forward by 2 to 4 weeks in autumn.
- In mountainous regions (the Alps, Pyrenees, Carpathians, etc.), it is best to plant in late spring (May-June) or late summer (August-September).
The harvesting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions in USDA zone 8 (France, England, Ireland, the Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...) fruit and vegetable harvests are likely to be delayed by 3-4 weeks.
In warmer areas (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), harvesting will probably take place earlier, depending on weather conditions.
The sowing periods indicated on our website apply to countries and regions within USDA Zone 8 (France, UK, Ireland, Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...), delay any outdoor sowing by 3-4 weeks, or sow under glass.
In warmer climes (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), bring outdoor sowing forward by a few weeks.
