Very satisfied, as always. The rose bush is already a good size, nicely branched, and with some new branches starting to grow. Following previous comments, I have double-checked that the label matches the variety; for now, everything looks good ???? We will see at flowering.

Description

Rosa Pierre de Luxembourg will charm with its generosity, its opulent and fragrant roses, and its great resistance to diseases. The roses boast a warm and soft pink that gets lost in a whirlwind of petals. They bloom in small bouquets that succeed each other from June until the first frost. This vigorous bush is adorned in dense foliage that is resistant to diseases. Its roses are simply sublime in bouquets.

Rosa Pierre de Luxembourg (Oracarli) was introduced to the market in 2019 by the Orard rose gardens, a family business located in Feyzin, not far from Lyon. It is classified as a modern large-flowered rose, also known as a hybrid tea rose. This variety is dedicated to Pierre de Luxembourg, a cardinal in the 14th century in Avignon and a figure of great generosity associated with the miracle of the rose. Legend has it that, suspected of hiding food intended for the poor, Pierre was ordered to open his coat. A multitude of rose petals then escaped from his clothing. Even today in Provence, and particularly in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the cult of the saint who became the patron saint of winemakers is celebrated.

Rosa Pierre de Luxembourg is a repeat-flowering rose that blooms in successive waves from June to October. It forms a small plant with a slightly upright, bushy habit. It is vigorous and fast-growing. It will measure approximately 90cm (35in) in height and 50 to 60cm (20 to 24in) in width. The large double flowers are globular and turbinate, composed of about 100 petals. Their colour is a flesh pink or old rose, deeper in the centre, fading over time. Their fragrance is pronounced, especially in warm weather. It is dominated by fruity notes. The dark green foliage is resistant to diseases and perfectly enhances the colour of the roses. The deciduous foliage falls in autumn and regrows in spring.

With its scent, the beauty of its flowers, and its abundant blooming, Rose Pierre de Luxembourg will look wonderful in a large rose bed, or as a standalone plant in a well-maintained garden. It adapts to all soils that are not too dry and all climates, tolerating both cold and heat, which means it can be planted almost anywhere. It pairs perfectly with pink, purple, mauve or white roses, as well as with easy-to-grow plants like perennial geraniums (Geranium 'Blue Cloud', G. 'Anne Folkard', G. 'Nimbus', G. 'Orion'), bellflowers (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, love-in-a-mist, foxgloves, and phlox. Its flowers can be used to create elegant bouquets that delicately perfume the house.

Planting and care

Prepare your soil to a depth of 40 cubic centimetres by loosening the soil and adding a bottom layer of organic fertiliser such as dried blood or dehydrated horn. Position your young plant, covering the top of the root ball with 3cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate any air pockets. During dry weather, it is important to water regularly for a few weeks to encourage root development. Provide your rose bush with special rose fertiliser to promote flowering.
