Description

Rosa Remember combines the fragrance of old roses with the perfect beauty of hybrid tea roses and the robustness of modern roses. Awarded for its fragrance, this repeat-flowering variety produces large, turbinate roses in a vibrant pink colour from May to October. The flowers emit a beautifully sweet fragrance within their petals. Naturally resistant to diseases, it requires little maintenance. You can enjoy the intense aroma along a path, near a patio, or in a vase. It is a reliable choice for the garden.

Rosa Remember, registered by the rose breeder Poulsen, won the "Fragrance Award International Rozenconcours" in the Netherlands in 2016 for its magnificent fragrance. It is a classic hybrid tea rose.

The plant forms a tall, ramified bush with vigorous and rapid growth. It will reach approximately 90cm (35in) in height and 70cm (28in) in width. It blooms from May to October, producing turbinate roses with a diameter of 10 to 12cm (4 to 5in). They are composed of numerous petals arranged very regularly. Their colour is a very bright, rich pink, and they have a pronounced fragrance. This rose has excellent disease resistance. Its deciduous foliage is composed of broad, glossy green leaflets. The leaves fall in autumn. It will thrive when planted in rich, deep soil that remains moist in summer.

With its extraordinary fragrance and long stems, Rosa Remember is wonderful in a vase. It will look sublime in a large rose bed, at the front of a shrub bed, or as a standalone plant in a well-maintained small garden. The colour of its flowers easily complements pastel blooms, as well as the range of blues, purples, and violets. Consider planting it near easy-to-grow plants such as Chinese peonies, perennial geraniums (Geranium 'Blue Cloud', G. 'Anne Folkard', G. 'Nimbus', G. 'Orion'), bellflowers (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, perennial salvias, and foxgloves. Dwarf buddleias also make lovely companions for bush roses. Its flowers can be used to create elegant bouquets that delicately perfume the home.

Planting and care

Prepare your soil to a depth of 25cm (10in) by crumbling the soil and adding fertiliser to the bottom of the planting hole (dried blood or dehydrated horn, for example). Position your plant in the hole, free from its pot. Cover the top of the root ball with 3cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to remove any air pockets. In dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth. Provide your rose with special rose fertiliser to stimulate flowering. Choose a sunny location or partial shade in very hot regions.

Roses are often stained or unsightly at the end of summer, but this will not hinder their development. These spots are a natural phenomenon and will not harm the rose.
