Thanks to the individuals (for order preparation and shipping), the rose bush I received seems healthy. Planted near an Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum', I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... or not?"

Description

Rosa Diamant Rose will delight all gardeners who are looking for a vigorous and low-maintenance plant that bears an abundance of roses. This modern hybrid rose is a small, low-growing bush with a natural habit, which blooms almost continuously from June until the first frost. It produces large clusters filled with small pale-pink to white wild roses that are slightly fragrant. This selection also bears many small red fruits and is adorned with elegant, light green, very healthy foliage. It will faithfully accompany all natural-looking plants in a slightly wild and romantic garden.

While modern roses are often criticised for their stiffness and poor disease-resistance, Rosa Diamant Rose 'LENdiro', created by L. Lens in 1995, stands out. It is a hybrid of the musk rose (Rosa x moschata), probably originating from Asia Minor or the Middle East. A bit like polyanthas and floribundas, roses in this family produce flowers grouped in clusters, but their colours are more refined and they have a more flexible and graceful habit. Rosa Diamant Rose forms a small bush with a slightly spreading habit, with flexible branches. It will reach a height of about 55cm (22in) with a spread of 70 to 80cm (28 to 32in). It bears light green foliage divided into fairly thin and long leaflets. From May-June to December, large clusters of pyramidal flowers bloom. Each small bud opens into a 3cm (1in) wide cup-shaped flower, which is initially pale-pink before becoming white. The centre of the flower is wide open to bees and other pollinating insects. The fragrance is very light and pleasant. After pollination, numerous small fruits form and turn red in autumn. This rose is hardy down to -15°C (5°F).

With its simple appearance and modest size, Rosa Diamant Rose will surely find its place in any garden. It adapts to all soils that are not too dry and to all climates, which means it can grow almost everywhere. It can border pathways and highlight shrub borders. It pairs perfectly with pretty and easy-to-grow plants such as perennial geraniums (Geranium 'Blue Cloud', G. 'Anne Folkard', G. 'Nimbus', G. 'Orion'), campanulas (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, and ground cover roses in harmonious colours. Left to its own devices, it will form a flowering dome with soft, romantic shapes in front of a shrub border. Its small size is ideal for container cultivation.

Planting and care

Choose a sunny exposure or partial shade in very hot regions. Work the soil to a depth of 25cm (10in), crumble the soil well, and place a base amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Position your plant, removed from its pot, and cover the top of the root ball with 3cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate air pockets. In dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root development. Provide your rose with special rose fertiliser that stimulates flowering in plants.

Roses are often stained or unsightly at the end of summer, but this will not hinder their development. These spots are a natural phenomenon and will not harm the rose.
