Thanks to Jenny from the order preparation and Katy from the shipping department, the rose bush I received looks healthy. Planted near the 'Anne Roumanoff' variety, I am now waiting to see how it develops... Will it take root or not? Note: It was received without its variety label (only the one stuck on the pot, which is going in the bin).

Description

The Rose Schöne Koblenzerin is a novelty from Kordes that is both dazzling and highly disease resistant. This upright and bushy shrub is adorned with beautiful light green foliage that serves as a backdrop for bouquets of small roses that are extremely charming and can be seen from afar. They are double, beautifully formed, with bicoloured velvet ruby petals backed by a lighter shade ranging from pink to silvery cream and white, creating a fabulous bouquet on the plant. The flowering continues throughout the summer on this small bush that has been awarded the prestigious German A.D.R label. A very pretty rose to use as a ground cover or in a flower bed, with small bushes or perennials. Its modest growth also makes it suitable for potted cultivation.

The Rosa x floribunda Schöne Koblenzerin ('KORburox') is a recent introduction by the German rose breeder Kordes (2011). It is characterised by a wide and bushy habit, well-branched. This bush reaches approximately 75 cm (30in) in height and 70 cm (28in) in width. Its thorny stems bear light green leaves, divided into 5 thick leaflets with finely toothed edges, slightly glossy, and resistant to diseases. Its flowering period is long,  it blooms in successive waves from June to October. The white-pink buds edged with dark pink, encased in green sepals, open into well-formed double flowers (20 to 39 petals), beautifully rounded, 4 cm (2in) in diameter, gathered in terminal clusters. In cool temperatures, the petals will be coloured ruby red and their undersides will be almost white. If the temperatures are warmer, pink will dominate: the petals will be a purplish pink, their undersides will be soft pink with silver highlights. The bicoloured hue of the flowers also changes as they age. Before fading, they reveal a heart of golden stamens, devoid of fragrance but visited by bees.

Floribunda roses are ideal for creating beautiful small hedges, planted mixed along the terrace or in beds with small bushes. Combine them with abelias, Mexican oranges, or caryopteris, for example. They make good companions for phlox paniculata and tall gypsophila. This 'Schöne Koblenzin' variety will be enhanced when planted in groups of 3, forming an extremely vibrant bush. For example, surround it with catmints and perennial or shrubby salvias with blue, fuchsia, mauve, or white flowers. Also combine it with white ground cover roses ('Swany', 'Marie Pavie'), chamomiles, or light grasses such as Stipa (barbata, pennata, tenuifolia). This very hardy rose that requires little maintenance thrives in full sun or partial shade. It will delight all gardeners, whether beginners or experienced.

Planting and care

Plant this floribunda rose from November to March, in ordinary, well-loosened and free-draining soil. Roses prefer clayey soils, rather heavy than light. In soil that is too sandy, too compact or too dry in summer, it is preferable to bury compost, decomposed manure or leaf-mould at the bottom of the planting hole. However, this rose dreads waterlogged soils in winter. Place it in a sunny position, at most in partial shade. Roses are greedy plants, a specific rose fertiliser application will be beneficial when the foliage emerges, then regularly during the entire flowering period.

To encourage re-blooming, regularly remove faded flowers. Floribunda rose varieties are more vigorous and floriferous than large-flowered rose varieties. Therefore, the stems should be pruned to about a quarter of their length (4 to 6 buds from the base of the stem) at the end of winter. Always prune above an outward-facing bud, so that the bush thickens and the branches do not become tangled in the centre of the shrub.
